I just have to chime in on this thread and say that I think it's ridiculous. I'm being a little redundant, but many, many of these finalists have real professional credits that NBC is completely downplaying. I'm sure Juliana gave them her resume like everyone else and they choose to highlight whatever they want.
The fact that you would accuse her of lying or being fake is missing the point and completely uncalled for.
Hello? For actors, Lying IS the game. Vote for Juliana! You GO, Girl!
she was kicked out of CCM?
She was cut from the department after her freshman year.
So I guess this thread has turned into a thread about how the show is completly fake and scripted. I want to know what the next gimmick the broadway producers will come up with to get the average stupid american into a broadway theatre. Instead of casting reality TV stars, lets just create a reality show that makes a broadway star. I find this show to be a stab in the back to performers that have studied the craft and are trying to make it the good old fashioned way. If this is the new broadway audition process, then bring it on and I will be sending in my headshot and resume to NBC instead of getting an agent. Then making up some story about how I came from a small town and I didn't have very much money and how my mom had to get three jobs so I could afford a new pair of jazz shoes.

"For actors, lying is the game." I hope not. We lawyers have our profession to protect!

I'm very torn about this show. I do agree that it is a bit unfair to actors and actresses who have dedicated their entire lives to the craft and taking numerous classes on the audition process and going into every audition they can just for the experience becaue it's basically just putting them out of another job or another oppurtunity. But then half of my heart thinks it is a good idea because there are sooo many talented people in this country and around the world that do not have the oppurtunity to be noticed because they are drowned out by every other actor who has his heart set and making it to New York or on television or to Hollywood. Gone are the days of packing up your suitcase and heading off to the big city to get noticed. Because there are so many people being exposed to this genre and this way of life you have to get and agent, send out your resume and 8x10s every week, etc. There's an entire process and to me half of this show is positive yet with the negatives following closely behind....
'Do you not think that the producers know of their previous experience?'
Of course they know. All of the contestants had to undergo background checks and psychological testing.

dibble, how is this unfair? The finalists, and probably hundreds of the earlier 'contestants', are also "actors and actresses who have dedicated their entire lives to the craft and taking numerous classes on the audition process and going into every audition they can just for the experience becaue it's basically just putting them out of another job or another oppurtunity". If you think otherwise, then you're being very naive. Most of the finalists either have professional experience or extensive credits in BFA musical theatre programs across the country. The people who had no experience and would have been true 'green' unknowns were all eliminated along the way because the judges knew that there's no way that they could ever carry eight shows a week.
mwjr, don't be so dramatic, honestly, did you go out and audition for this? You had the same opportunity to do so as the thousands of others who did. And the show is almost totally scripted so don't accuse Juliana of lying.
winston, you're mistaken if you think it's easy for an actor to get their Equity card.
MWJR -
bitter? frustrated? what's your deal exactly? Why would you feel the need to smear a fellow actors reuptation and name over and over? Do you really think she's flying in under the radar? If so, you are extremely naive. As others have said - there's been full disclosure going on behind the scenes. If you have a beef, take it up with the producers and editors of the show - don't take it out on ANY of the participants. I have NO doubt in my mind whatsoever that all who are participating are genuine in not only wanting to be in the show, but about their intentions.
Who cares if Juliana was or was not thrown out of any program? The only purpose that serves is making you look like a you-know-what for putting it out there
Let's hope none of your skeletons ever make it onto the boards.
Not to mention - again - who cares. Whether or not she was removed from the CCM program doesn't mean anything in way of talent or whatnot
Many of our greatest stars of stage and screen were kicked out of programs, told that they would never amount to anything, discouraged, etc.
You just come across - intended or not - nasty and with some axe to grind. Are you only singling Juliana out for some reason or because you know a little bit more about her? What about the other contestants who have more or less experience?
Again - you're gripe is with the show's editing and production. Or at least it should be
Cobb salad, anyone?

well, then this show has failed already because it's basically just another Equity call, with a few cameramen and some over the top hosts thrown in along the way.
" do agree that it is a bit unfair to actors and actresses who have dedicated their entire lives to the craft and taking numerous classes on the audition process and going into every audition they can just for the experience becaue it's basically just putting them out of another job or another oppurtunity. I find it funny...out of all the auditions for shows at reputable theaters in this country, people find it unfair because they decided to cast ONE show in the US through a reality show. Also, they did Equity auditions beforehand, so it's not like it's putting certain actors/actresses out of another job. Everyone had the opportunity to go through these auditions.
Lying or not lying doesn't matter. What matters is connecting with viewers to gain votes. If she appeals to America, people are more likely to vote for her. She's smart.
Thank you Craig. I would just like to point out that you once said in an earlier post how Juliana is a close friend of yours...so it annoys me how people would trash her on a website where you are one of the people in charge (not cool). I am sure that the producers know what she has done theaterwise and i agree about the ccm thing...she obviously did not need it anyway if she has booked national tours. If she wins she wins if not fine. But I totally feel that some people are negative about the show to begin with and find ways to take it out...soemthing tells me the Britt's were not insanely angry about "Maria."
Seen this?

She's not hiding her theatre credits from her hometown press, at any rate.
(I'm a little discombobulated because I think I actually saw her as Molly.)
This will be my final post under this name. See ya Broadwayworld.com

First of all... this thread is stupid.
Secondly, I googled her and found THIS on her myspace:
"I'd also like to mention that I'm not completely a "Rocker Chick" as I'm portrayed on the Grease show. I'm a Union actress and I've been doing this since I've been 7 years old in commercials, TV movies, Voice overs, and of course tons of Professional Stage shows including going on as the lead in the 1st National Tour of "Thoroughly Modern Millie." The Grease show liked the idea that I play in a Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band on occasion a few times a year (when I'm between stage work) so they ran with it. That's reality TV for you!'
There ya go.
hate to sound snarky and make unfair assumptions here but mwjr16 - do you know or are friends with someone else in the competition? You bumped this thread without adding anything to it because?
It almost "feels" like you're trying to sabotage who people vote for. Or maybe you do have a legitimate reason for bumping a thread that was already pretty active. Do enlighten us...
wow...this thread was harsh...
At least mwjr16 apologized for whatever his first post said about Juliana.
EDIT: you know what though? no one should start cruel rumors about someone they don't even know! let's let this thread die.
I say we burn her as a witch. How dare she!
You bumped this thread without adding anything to it because?
S/he altered their original post.
If that were not allowed on BWW half of these threads wouldn't exist!
Now that MWJR has changed his/her screen name, let's all vote for Juliana, okay?

How do you know how many of these people have perhaps been doing the same, but haven't been able to get a break? And lots of people just starting out get great performing jobs early on - why is that any different?
