Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU! I totally share your observation. Everytime she speaks I just cringe. She's an Equity actress who understudied the LEAD role on a 1st National Tour!
It's embarrassing seeing her attempt 'humble', especially since alot of folks know who she is.
I commend Austin for at least mentioning in full his Equity credits and not trying to be the average Joe who's never performed anywhere.
Is she really an office temp. Do the judges know she was in the Millie tour, as well as a local production of the Wizard Of Oz which had the Radio City sets 3 years ago?
I don't know why they aren't saying that half of them were planted on the show so that they won't have some trash from the street playing the lead in a Broadway show. Or talk about the auditions before the auditions.
im sure the performers have little to no control over what the producers put under their name as their profession for the on camera text- they were probably all asked what they do and answered with things like "well, ive done some theatre but right now im working in an office". besides, from a television point of view, how exciting would the show be if all the contestants were described as being well trained and experienced? everyone loves an underdog.
Very true but shes not being honest. She is playing a character for the TV. Ok fine if the producers are editing out her experience she still doesn't have to be a fake person.
You aren't getting the point, mwjr16. Just because they haven't aired anything mentioning the Millie tour doesn't mean that she's lying. The producers & editors of the show can make anyone seem however they want, when you consider that they can ask whatever questions they want, and splice the answers together in any way they want.
I don't see why you feel she's so "playing" such a fake person.
She is being fake all the time even when she is answering questions about nothing. She is just fooling everyone, but I guess its working. I'm not saying that she isn't good I just think its interesting the way she is playing the play.
In my opinion, there is obviously a "catch" to spice up the show ratings (as mentioned on last week's episode). I really think they have several people in the finals that are Equity and they are moles. The entire show is scripted, so you're right in thinking her lines are fake... they are. That's showbiz.
In one of the online videos on the official website, Austin Miller mentions that he was in Hairspray on tour and in Vegas, and that he was on a soap opera.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
You have to remember the premise of the show is to more or less find an "unknown" for the lead. Do you not think that the producers know of their previous experience? I'm sure those involved have no say as to what gets edited in or out. To blame the participants, such as Juliana, is ridiculous.

I am sure that there are people there with equity cards. I don't think that they all have had experence on broadway or national tours of broadway shows ect. But, it is not that hard to get an equity card these days and I am sure that there are people who have them that saw the show and thought they would try there luck.
I do think it's a bit much to call anyone who has an equity card that is on this show a mole. I highly doubt that equity would have "moles" placed in the show. Equity knows the casting rules and and so do the producers. Prior to shooting the show they had an equity call for the roles of Sandy and Danny. Then they did the show as an open cast call.

I've seen more than one equity actor on the show, with an onscreen description that has nothing to do with their acting credits. Although to be honest I fast forward through a lot of the show due to the fact that I find it somewhat mortifying, so I don't know everything Juliana Hansen has said in every interview. I do think that the tone of mwjr16's posts sounds like there may be a personal grudge there, though...I mean, expecting total candor from contestants on a reality show is a little naive at this point!
She's not "lying." Newsflash: these people have been coached by the producers to present themselves in a way that will be appealing to their audiences. In Juliana's case, the producers guess she will get down to the wire- they are probably trying to make it look like a Cinderella story. Reality TV fans love a Cinderella story. Also, don't be surprised if they play Derek down in the weeks to come. I highly doubt his experience of playing Danny in basically every regional production in America will come up. He turned down playing Danny at Mariott Lincolnshire so he could do this stupid competition. Kate Rockwell has an extensive list of professional credits to her name as well. Reality TV is just as scripted as your average sitcom.
