You guys are probably too young to remember this but this is exactly like the third replacement cast of Wicked the time Brenda twisted her ankle doing a complicated Wayne Cilento movement and she couldn't go on so Trica covered Chloe's track so that Amanda could bump up to do the Brenda track. But then Tricia smashed her elbow and the pain was so bad she passed out backstage and then -- seriously -- they just had Kevin cover Chloe's vocals (because you know how deep Chloe's voice is) for the last two songs and they just completely abandoned Kevin's track and nobody filled in and people who had never seen the show before didn't even notice though it was glaringly obvious to the rest of us.
Everybody I know who wasn't there wishes they had been there.
This is somewhat random, but back in the day (AKA the original production)...didn't Dionne understudy for Sheila?

i think so..i remember watching something(it might have been the documentary)and it talked about Melba Moore who played Dionne go on for Sheila and they said that it created all this buzz because a black girl had never went on for Sheila.

Melba Moore was one of the Sheila replacements at one point.

Didn't even notice Caissie was hurt - or off the stage - until Walking In Space, when Allison Case sang the 'walking in space, we find the purpose of peace...' part with Kacie Sheik.
When Caissie was supposed to gallop in as George Washington, I believe (I might be wrong here) that Bryce wore the coat and 'galloped' out alone, did her 'retreat' line, and went off in to the wings.
During 'Give Up All Desires' just Bryce and Allison came out with Megan. Allison brought out the gasoline container and did 'no more war toys' before pouring, and Bryce did Caissie's vocal line in a falsetto. Afterwards, when the nuns came out, Gavin kneeled where Caissie normally kneels so there were still three people for the three nuns.
After that, Nicole took over any Sheila line or song. But, they didn't call her Sheila. They called her by her tribe name, Zoe, for the rest of the show.
All in all, really interesting night. Gotta love live theater!
Hello, Starshines :) I'm going to see Hair in about a week or so and I am extremely excited! This will only be the second broadway show I've seen (the first being Les Miserables), so if the following question makes me sound like a total newbie then you know why :)
On to my question:
I want to go meet the cast at the staged door and I'm wondering how exactly I get there and if there are any little tidbits of etiquette (sp?) that I should know about beforehand (I'd rather not piss anyone off...).
Thanks so much!

ALackOfCover--- thanx for the interesting info. Am I right in assuming they still made "Zoe" the love interest for Berger/Claude in the end? That would be a little random but I guess everyone sleeps together in HAIR haha

Not exactly - they altered it slightly. Zoe and Claude didn't kiss like Claude and Sheila usually do at the end of "Good Morning Starshine" - kind of just a big hug and a friendly peck, followed by Berger hugging them both. I think they attempted to play it off as a friendship thing, rather than Claude being in love with a random tribe member for the last twenty minutes of the show.
You should also know that you need to stand behind the barricade or if you're beyond the barricade, at least stand behind the line where it would be if it extended. The doorman really hates when people block the pathway, so to keep you from getting yelled at, that's my advice. Also, it's just considerate to other fans to keep from turning it into a big pile-up at the end of the line.

Anyone think they might have Sasha go on as Aretha?
