Loving tonight with Sutton and Kelly going to the bad out of town try-out!
I think the four Bunhead's scenes would be much better if the two juxtaposing characters (Sasha vs. Boo) were played by better actresses. In particular, Julia Goldani Telles, is pretty awful, and Kaitlyn Jenkins is pretty one-level, albeit, I will admit, likable for reasons other than her acting abilities. Coincidently, Bailey Buntain and Emma Dumont are much better actresses, and in my opinion could have been much better as Boo and Sasha respectively.
OK, one episode left and still no real story progress? I guess the director doing Follies will be picked up for the finale, as well as Sutton's character's thing with the General Hospital guy (which makes me wonder if they just dropped the rich man on the hill thing that seemed such a setup for her)... It seems bad form to nitpick about the quips, but two had me confused. I've never ever heard someone call Follies a "fun" show before--and "My childhood was like a Tennessee WIlliams play without the happy ending" made me confused, counting on one hand the number of WIlliams plays that I know with a happy ending... (Rose Tattoo, Period of Adjustment, ummm?)
I really enjoy the show, but the direction is getting too similar to Gilmore Girls. The rapid-fire line delivery gets on my nerves.
Eric- I took the Williams happy ending line to be deadpan sarcasm.
I do agree that the plot hasn't really developed into anything, but I'm still loving the show. I think it may help that I've never seen an episode of Gilmore Girls so I can't make any comparisons.
Sutton makes me laugh enough that I can forgive the rest of the show for its shortcomings. I've watched many shows that were much worse.

I saw a couple episodes earlier this summer while I was home as my mom has been watching it, and I had watched the pilot, since they offered it free on itunes. It was ok, but not enough to make me remember to check if it's on hulu.
I will say that I find it amusing as my mom starts getting more familiar with various Broadway stars and begins discovering the intrigue that goes on in our world. She recently asked me if I had known that Sutton and Christian (she's also become a fan of Smash) had been married but were now divorced. I didn't give her the full scoop, but it makes me smile nonetheless.
I would be thrilled to see a production of Follies take shape next week, but which role would be right for Sutton? She's too young to play one of the principals, and too old to be one of the ghosts, right?
I agree that the pacing is glacial and spends too much time on inconsequential plot points, such as the supermarket opening. Boring! I want to see more dancing!

Its been made quite clear countless times that Sutton's character Michelle is solely a dancer -- nothing more; nothing less... so obviously, any reference she makes to shows she's been in has been in the capacity of a chorus dancer. Her referring to FOLLIES as a "fun show" is implying its a fun show to perform AS a dancer.
Aren't all the Follies chorus dancers ghosts?
So, the show got renewed for a second season! I only watched the pilot... haha. This is great news for Sutton and company!
I'm really happy to hear this. It really started to get going in the last couple of episodes a la Gilmore Girls in their first season, and I only wish the first season was longer so we could see that further development. I think they're on the right track though, and hopefully will continue down it.
Question: the official press release said they've been given a back order pick up of more episodes to air this winter. What exactly does that mean? Does that technically mean that they're just taking a break so to speak to film and air the rest of what will be officially the second half of season one? Or is it officially going to be labeled as season two? ABC Family has a peculiar timeline in which their TV shows run, and a 10 episode season is kind of short in comparison to their other series.
ABC Family has winter and spring premieres of shows after a hiatus; kind of like other shows may have mid-season hiatuses. So, we may be looking into the second half of season one in the winter and Season Two will start maybe in the spring or early-summer.
Ah, that makes a lot more sense! Thanks for the info!
Obnoxious double post, but I was IN LOVE with the summer finale. In my opinion by far, the best episode to date.

This show is pretty nuts, but I'll watch it when it comes back.
The whole scene with the mace was absolutely insane, and the entire time I was literally LOLing, I couldn't help but think this couldn't actually be happening.

Bunheads just won the coveted California Tax Credit Lottery, making it very likely it will be back for Season 2 as it will be much cheaper to produce. I expect an official announcement before the end of the week.

What exactly is this lottery?

It gives Bunheads a 25% tax credit to film in California.
Right, but shows are randomly selected? They throw their names in a hat?

Yes, it is. But it is very beneficial to a project and for something like Bunheads which was very on the bubble, a great excuse for a second season.

That is great, I have been wondering what the future holds for Bunheads.
A show like Bunheads employs a lot of people for a season (including a friend of mine), so this is actually a good thing to help the state economy.
