Mynameinlights: The original poster actually changed the original post after I said something, and it did say something about Eponine. And I only keep replying because (s)he keeps on asking me questions so I kept answering. I wasn't going to reply after the first posts of mine. But I'm done answering to him.
Exactly, andrew. I don't really see them as being comparable at all.
Luckydave14, good to know, but there's a thing called quitting while you're ahead.

Well, I think I'm still ahead :)
And to answer the posters question - Sutton was a better Eponine, and I think Sutton is better all around.

"Well, I think I'm still ahead :)"
I never realized this was a competition.. How very elementary.
And if only to appease you, I'm going to put back the fragment I omitted a while ago. Yes, it will REALLY change it's meaning dramatically. Because people here are THAT STUPID not to understand what the post is all about.
Original post:
"Since these two are quite similar in ways more than one, both having played Eponine, possessing strikingly similar voices and are both fantastic thespians in their own rights, it's time we have a consensus. Who cuts it for you? And why?
Sutton and Lea fans, war is upon you."
Now tell me, which part of the paragraph is it exactly asks which of the two is the BETTER EPONINE? Anyone who has a modicum of logic would understand that the part about "both having played Eponine" was mentioned to assert their aforementioned similarities.

Shut up. PM each other instead of ruining this topic.
Anyway, both are my favorite Eponines... Arghh!!! It's impossible to pick one... I just love how Sutton sings "pretending", but I also loved how I can feel her emotions through the song...
Hm... I think Lea wins by a little bit!
I really don't think they're comparable. I think Sutton's voice is much more powerful and versatile, and she's a much stronger actress in all respects.
They're just very different types to me anyway, though.
I don't find their voices similar in the slightest. Sutton's voice sounds like Eponine. Lea's doesn't.
LEA! I Love Sutton, but Lea just is excellent in ways I cannot explaiN!

I haven't really seen or heard much of Sutton, so I can't speak about her.
I really do like Lea, I thought she was a great Eponine; her roughness or overpronounation covered up her "upper class" upbringing, for me. Also, I like Lea's Kim too, from the scenes she did in "Hey! Mr. Producer" she was enchanting and she sounds great on the CD.
Lastly since someone asked, I too, have seen Ma-Anne Dionisio as Eponine and I really liked her. Ma-Anne had a good combination of strength and saddness. I wish her CD would come out, which I think might have been put on the back burner for some reason, because I have heard "On My Own" is on it. I am going provide a link to some sounds of Ma-Anne as Eponine
Ma-Anne Dionisio sounds

I dont think I could sooner pick a star in the sky. I adore both of them, and although it very much sounds like a copout answer it is the truth!!!!!
I have a question though, What other roles could they have shared? To me they are both wonderful in everything I have seen them in but I could'nt imagine them bieng replaced by the other. besides eponine of course
Oh and one more question, Why is it every topic I choose to read is ruined by someone who has to try to look superiour to everyone else?
go ahead make fun of my spelling, or grammer it's old news
**Why is it every topic I choose to read is ruined by someone who has to try to look superiour to everyone else?**
The argument was a ploy to cover up moowithme111105's use of the "B word"!
BTW, I vote for Lea. She's been my favorite singer for sooo many years.
i love Lea salonga... she's a great talent from singing broadway to disney! there's just something about the girl...

lol @ collins.. i guess we're busted then.. that word is really dreadful, isn't it?
btw, no one is trying to prove himself superior mesmerized..i just hate it when people try to aggravate you coz they don't like your post. personally, if i have a problem with someone's post, i leave it alone and don't participate. I move on to something else. I don't aggravate the author. It's only fair, isn't it?

i say for Eponine its Lea, in the concert thing she becomes eponine, and that means not always sounding awesome b.c shes the character....BUT as a actor/singer/dancer everything no one can top Sutton

triplethreat.. you are horrible!lol.. i don't know where to count your vote. but since the post is not partial to who is the better Eponine but rather to their general appeal, is it safe to say you're for Sutton?

Lea, no question. I've seen both live, but Lea just does such a better job in the acting part. She really shows the drama and sadness of Eponine's siuation (or Kim in Miss saigon, for that matter)
Definitely Lea..she has an amazing voice and has the capability to become the character and not just go through the motions.

For those who have seen Lea in Les Mis live, what do you remember about her during "the Robbery" and "Eponine's Errand?" Those scenes were cut from the concert and I have been wondering how Lea was like in those scenes.

i hate this topic because I love these two women a lot! Lea is just Lea and her voice to me is just beautiful in the role... I saw Sutton on tour and felt that her Eponine was also sung and acted beautifully... and like someone said earlier... her "pretending" just gives me chills everytime i hear her sing it... but i would give the vote to Lea by just a smidge mainly because there's a purity to Lea's voice that is unmatched...
and isn't Lea Salonga one of Sutton's favorite Broadway performers? i remember watching an interview with Sutton in which she says how much she loves Lea Salonga...
