I saw the UK tour of Da Vinci Code, it didn't work for me as a play, because it was too much "tell" and not enough "show". It closed early here due to poor ticket sales. All those details you enjoy reading on your first read through of the book, is lost here.

Wow. She'll be busy doubling as Dustin Hoffman as Tootsie

I was thinking, so much of the book consists of people explaining things to each other that it would either work really well as a play or not work at all. The movie helped by adding flashbacks and stylistic flourishes.
I'm just curious if anybody cares about Dan Brown's books anymore.

First thing I thought of was which role Sally was taking on.

The plot is much too convoluted to work on stage

In all seriousness she's likely the Julie Halston role in Tootsie, right?

Oooh! Can we drag out all the bloated corpses of zeitgeist books that are now justly forgotten?
The Celestine Prophecy!
Jonathan Livingston Seagull!
Passages!
Presumed innocent!
Jokes for the John!

When I first started teaching, many members of the English Department were crazy about JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL and were teaching it as though it was a lost volume of Robert Frost's poems. I found it to be a vapid book and resisted any urge to join the crowd.

Got to admit, I'm curious
This is not very good. Its 2hrs of non stop taking at you. Failed here in the UK.

Feel like this is something Colin O'Donnell should be doing not Urie.
With Urie I thought it might be some sort of parody, not played straight.

I would actually like to see him play something that does not involve an exaggerated personality. He is talented.
Unfortunately, I also feel that this is a terrible idea for a show. It will be a talk snooze that would be better played for laughs when they finally explain who the female lead is in the context of the piece. Groan!
Judging by the photos, Mr. Urie has matured in a very good way. I enjoyed the book (yes, it is best not to think about the actual logic behind it}, and just because something doesn't work in the UK does not necessarily mean it will fail here - and vice-versa.

Every show is "absolutely" going to Broadway. I will believe this when they have announced a theatre and opening date. It might actually be more lucrative to not play New York, just tour it and license it like CLUE.

You know what I like about Da Vinci Code? I like how it spells out how the "organizers" of the bible, men, assembled it in such a way, annotating it to degrade Mary Magdalene, when she was just as important in the original writings as Jesus. And I do love what the Holy Grail is. It explained the bible's sexism to a HUGE audience. Things I didn't know. So I have a soft spot for the book. Saying that...I would never want to see it onstage...
