I am enjoying it! Caviar Dreams, the two songs the daughters sing, and the Act 1 finale have definitely been the most musically cohesive and (personally) entertaining numbers. The stewardess gives a spectacular monologue about her life back home and I am sad I can’t remember her name as I type this. It feels incredibly loyal to the documentary.
It won’t be for everyone either way. No question. I think there is an inherent level of interpersonal tightening that the company needs to find independent of that, I am feeling lots of “dead air” between book scenes and dialogue, it just don’t feel “sharp” enough in lots of moments and it’s hard to read the message at times because of it. I trust it will get there, that to me feels like the type of thing the company will settle into in the coming weeks and the show will begin to feel snappier. But again, if the source material or lavish attitudes rub you the wrong way - I don’t think any amount of changes (at least based on Act 1) are going to make this worth your while.
