Extreme examples without a name, but we'll just have to wait and see.

God forbid you are ever corrected. And it was the new Elton John musical but I guess that isn't a "name" either?
But you continue to do you.

Feels like every addtional press/comments are making it overall worse.

So much has happened in the world since this was in Boston, it just feels like a bad time. But, as I've said before, we will see what happens.

WHY!). The show is far more damning of Jackie than they'd have any potential ticket buyers believe, and, sadly, this decision is not helping them shake off the "MAGA The Musical" feeling that folks have about it.
It's gonna take a miracle..."
I know I'm coming across like a QoV defender here (and I do think well of the score--and book--as done in Boston though I'll be interesting to know the changes.) But I completely agree with this. I know she's a producer, but I think it has given people the feeling that the show is a celebration of Jackie and excess and not so much the cautionary tale it really is (or was anyway.) On the flip side it makes me a bit uncomfortable just because it does seem like Jackie herself is unaware how she comes across in the musical (but then she was unaware about the documentaries as well, so this just seems to be her usual state.) I don't feel sorry for Jackie in this situation exactly but it adds to the uncomfortableness.
I will add that, in comparison with Redwood which keeps getting brought up, based on what played in Boston (and the much smaller group of new musicals coming this season) I honestly think even if it closes early, Schwartz could get a Tony nom. Yes, I said it lol--it's at the least strong enough for a nomination in most seasons. Something I don't think anyone felt Redwood might get...

I had to read this thread to see how long it was before someone mentioned Stephen Schwartz. 29… not bad. So weird that he’s becoming almost an afterthought in all of this. If he’s not top of mind with this show, it’s no wonder interest is low to skeptical.
Do the producers really think people care about Jackie Siegel? Are they overestimating Chenoweth’s appeal? Just hoping for rave reviews or the organic emergence of a Wicked-level fandom? Assuming the gays will automatically turn out for a Real Housewife-coded musical?
I love the documentary and the Affluenza genre. I am the target demo for this show, and I’m still on the fence. I’m in town in December and might see this at half price IF it’s still playing and IF the weather is crappy and IF there’s not a better show to fill my schedule. It’s wild that a new musical from Stephen Schwartz directed by Michael Arden and starring Kristin Chenoweth isn’t instantly a must-see. TBH, the intrigue is probably what will get me into the theater (assuming the show is still running and tickets are cheap). Eagerly awaiting everyone’s reactions to see what has changed since Boston and how the score is faring. Fingers crossed we are all pleasantly surprised.

I mean, Stephen Schwartz could use that Tony, as he's never won beforeeee...

Are there any discount codes for this yet?
“Chenoweth was clear that as someone who is ‘left-leaning’ and Christian, she is hungry for a way to bring both political parties together—not to attack, but to talk. And she hopes that as an artist, the Queen of Versailles (a work she is so proud of that she is also a producer on it) can help do that.
"If not us, then who," she says passionately. "We are constantly tearing each other down. We cannot do that anymore. We have to find a way to meet. Or it will be the end. We will just be divided and divided and divided."
Sure, “Queen of Versailles The Musical” is what will bring political parties together in 2025. 🙄

Assuming this was online? In-person rush won't be given out until after the box office opens.

Comparing a new Stephen Schwartz show to Redwood or Tammy Faye is ridiculous.
They’re not comparing it in terms of quality, just potential run length. One only needs to look at the unsold houses to know the show is in serious danger of flopping.

Comparing a new Stephen Schwartz show to a new Elton John show? Seems like a based comparison to me.
Methinks you forgot Tammy Faye was written by Elton John.
The St. James Theatre website lists an approximate 2:30 runtime, including a 15-minute intermission.

Very curious about the song list! Lindsey Ferrentino mentioned the show has two new/replacement songs since Boston

I will be there too since I got a last-minute ticket (friend of a friend bailed). Expecting lots of screaming with a MAGA undertone
Have fun tonight!
