For the final Wednesday matinee, 12/17/25, about 45% of the house is unsold, maybe more. The upstairs is wide open. There are few left left to see this, other than a handful of people who won't miss a (almost) legendary flop.
The producers' comments that strategically blame "audience behavior" - must believe that outlier NY Times Critic Pick was the true appraisal of their show, and thus in Before Times Broadway, the COVID shutdown, it would've eventually pulled in the enthused crowds it deserves. The show's word of mouth, from the first preview, was negative. Yet somehow, the creatives had such blind faith in the enterprise, they presumed this was a Field of Dreams endeavor: build it and they will come. They chose not to come to the TKTS booth or even TDF. It's been papered. That's due to "audience behavior" all right: audience signaling no thanks.
it doesn't matter how good or bad a production is.
Um, yes it does. I adore you J but you trying to justify this cubic zirconia turd isn't the move. And for people who are saying this isn't a Trumped up show? Um, the Mango Child Rapist when to her house and is currently using her design team for his tacky ass ballroom.
So, let's stop pretending, oui?

Norma Desmond is a notorious narcissist. I felt she was more Trump than Jackie Siegel. “If it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t have any jobs, because if it wasn’t for me, there wouldn’t be any paramount studios.”

Those of us who have been theatergoers for decades can count scores of show that could not find an audience, many with a far better final consensus. Of all the lame excuses issued over the years, this may be the most bizarre. The show's word of mouth, from the first preview, was negative. As you often do, you hit the nail on the head with this, Auggie.
I'm sympathetic to the difficulty of mounting a new Broadway musical- the cost, getting people in the seats- but shows are not all equal. But whenever a show like this flops, this rallying-around just ignores the elephant in the room: that sometimes shows flop because too many people think they are bad.
this will be the biggest flop of the [limited] new musicals this season. Rob Lake's Muppet Show seemed more successful than Cheno's flop. And I say this as I think Titanique & Beaches will also flop in the Spring if they actually open.

The show failed because the material did not connect with the audience, they had a hard time raising all the money, and the team seemingly put too much time and resources into the opening night party at the expense of the reserve. None of this has anything to do with the audience. Great material backed by an economically realistic and sustainable financial plan supports success. Look inward and do better next time.

I think that these theaters should open themselves up as touring houses. I was looking at tickets for the dancing with the stars tour and it was well sold, I was shocked at how much money it was. 400 bucks was the cheapest. There are so many comedians and great acts who would love to play broadway for a few nights.

“Things are looking hopeless but we know it’s a fact, in America you can have a second act!”
Brilliant lyrics!!!! I’m truly in awe of several of those songs and lyrics
If you think those are brilliant, you should check out The Cat in the Hat. It would blow your mind.

Are you kidding? This is when it takes off, act one finale. Simple, to the point, she sings undeterred, and the melody is killer. There’s also backup vocals too so it builds.

If your show is "taking off" at the end of the first act (it isn't) then you have a bad show. Cuz you only got like a 1/3 left.

No the show takes off from the jump, have you even seen it? Maybe see it before talking. I’m saying those lyrics are when the tempo speeds up and it has a big act one finish.

“I’ve got brains and I’ve got guts and I’ll be using that,
until I’m finally the one who they’re all looking at!
No matter how unlikely now it seems,
I’m gonna have a life of chocolate dreams!
and it’ll all come true and be SO delicious!”
Just beautiful “I want” song!! And it all fits absolutely perfectly!!!

The only way a show is gonna be successful on broadway is if the costs come down. And those costs are not entirelyto do with producers and everything to do with unions and rent and everything else"
Probably the stupidest post I have seen in a long time, Flash. You don't play the 'long game' with a certifiable disaster. I doubt we will ever see a single production of QOV anywhere ever. I can't figure out if you just like playing contrarian or if you are intellectually challenged; either way, not gonna happen. EVER

Producers do not go in putting money into a show they think is a disaster. And btw, this one isn’t. I think it will be a mainstay in musical theater and see regional theaters doing it in a few years

I don't see any regional theater producing this mess unless the book gets rewritten after this closes.

Jackie and David Segal have a long history of attending events at Mar-A-Lago
So you are super incorrect, David also was a massive Republican donor and essentially funded the events that stopped the recount that made Bush president, which is even reference IN THE SHOW

I honestly don't see it anywhere. It can't be done in middle/high schools (imagine?), it won't be in colleges, it cost too much for regional theater, and it's too massive of a production for cruise ships. So, ummmm, Vegas? They know a thing or two about tacky, gauche, ridiculous, over the top shows. That is literally the only place I can think of where this piece belongs, besides the dumpster bin outside of the St James.

I can see paper mill, the muny, goodspeed, Kennedy center, broadway at music circus, and many others doing it down the line.
