Surprised she's returning today. Just rest up and return for Tuesday.

Our friends were actually bummed that she was back as they expected and wanted to see Sherie.
I got scared every time I saw the photos with heels she wears climbing stairs.
Saw it with Sherie.
The show is fine. Far from the worst thing I’ve ever seen on Broadway, but not enough of a trainwreck creatively to make it one for the history books.
Sherie gives a very good performance as Jackie but her voice is not strong and is not a good fit for this part. I cannot compare her performance to Kristin’s, but there are a lot of Kristin-isms in the vocal writing.
Schwartz’s score is pretty bad, and it is not helped by John Clancy’s poor orchestrations. Past Schwartz scores have been orchestrated by some of the best to ever do it (Ralph Burns, Don Walker, Bill Brohn, and David Cullen among them) and Clancy is not in their company.
Tonally the show is all over the place. It has a phoney earnestness when maybe it SHOULD lean into the cynicism. At times it feels like it wants to do a Scorsese-style Goodfellas/Wolf of Wall Street thing, but they don’t follow it through. The two different framing devices (real-life Versailles + the documentary) are not good. Trying to span 20+ years also doesn’t work.
Everything feels a little overblown and not enough fun, and as with BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, this does not feel like a show that needed an ensemble.

I'm seeing this next weekend with whichever leading lady the universe blesses me with, but i do find it odd that I keep reading about Sherie's vocals, since she had no problems with Little Shop of Horrors just last year?
Her vocals were amazing when I saw her first night. Kristin has the score in her voice by now, Sherie is probably still building the stamina required to sing this beast of a role. Not to mention she has gone on twice with short notice.
The issue is that the score is so shaped around Chenoweth and it’s almost as if they didn’t bother to make adjustments for Scott. The issue both times for me were the highest, operatic notes, that Scott wouldn’t be able to hit on her best day, specifically the Act II opening duet with Marie Antoinette.

This. I don't know if they dropped any keys for Scott, but there were at least a few songs that might have sat better in a different place in her voice.
It does seem at odds. I think Sherie on paper better suits the part but it is clearly written for Cheno and their voices are drastically different. I don’t see Cheno doing Aida or Rent.
No adjustments were made for Scott. If she was with this show from the beginning her vocals would be perfection. She's doing a fantastic job given the situation - we enjoyed her much more regardless of vocals.

I know pretty confidently through production that there was an original intention and plan to adjust keys for Scott, and that plan fell apart for a number of logistical and financial reasons. I did not probe the topic any more as I originally had zero intention on ever attending the show.

Any current discount code for this please?
I think Sherie actually sounds pretty great on the clips that have surfaced. She certainly seems to be giving an overall performance more in tune with the actual Jackie Siegel, so it doesn't surprise me that many feel the show seems to land better with her in the part.

Enjoy this completely out-of-touch, “let’s all hands and koombaya,” “I wish we could all make a cake out of rainbows and unicorns” take from the ever-annoying Matt Rodin. 🙄
…or don’t.
I’m hearing rumblings this may be closing before Jan 4…
If anyone still wants to see this go tonight, go this week, just get to it asap. You have until the 21st. Trust.

Dang. I feel for the cast and crew of this show. It was doomed from the beginning and watching them not even try to course correct throughout this has to be frustrating for everyone involved. I wonder if Kristin’s injury just sealed the deal for an even earlier closure.
I hope Ryah gets a shot at it, I wish Sherie could just close this thing out.
I do wonder if she’ll just do the evening shows with her injury. Is that even a chance?

How old is he that he's asking when people weren’t wanting bad shows to close? Surely he can't be over 25.
