But you dont know if they are not using who do you think you are and a rested body or not. Maybe those songs are in this but they didn't make the soundtrack. And the reprises of ease on down the road are left off the recording but they remain in this. "
Those damming it are no worse than you, who keeps praising it to high heavens.
You are the one insisting that no songs would be cut. You make just as many assumptions with even less evidence. At least CATSNYrevial has an official track list to base a hypothesis on.
"I am not praising it to the high heavens. And i said ''maybe.'' i actually don't know if those songs will be in this or not. I was assuming that because this is a 3 hour televised production and since those songs aren't even that long, i would think they would make it into this. And do not compare to those people who are doubting it. I am not like them. None of us know if those songs made it or not so we will wait and see

No dear, this was your exact quote: "All of the songs from the broadway musical remain intact. Except born on the day before yesterday "

"I meant that most of the songs from the broadway musical will be a part of this. Born on the day before yesterday has been cut but i am not sure if a rested body and who do you think you are has been cut too. Cause i assumed that every song woud be in this since this is 2 hours and 15 minutes long
This years broadcast was doomed to be a disaster from the day it was announced. For that I already stated my reasons in previous posts.
What a big relief its is going to be, when it will be over and to go through broadwayworld one would not have to see the horrendous photos and trailers from this production. When Peter Pan was announced I had the same reaction, but the promo material made really change my mind and become excited for December 4th. If what we have seen so far is making you excited for this broadcast, seriously you need help. A costume design that makes a man looking like the tree man of Java is sick enough to even think about it.
Everything about it is all wrong.

I can't take the opinion of someone who actually thought the Sound of Crappie Driftwood Live! was 'good'
who cares what you will bloody do. I am speaking for myself...

Sound of Music was the best musical they have to date. Wiz will not come close. Sure, we can all stand up and call Carrie Underwood silly names.. In fact lets all have a party and do just that.
Some crazy minds are behind this project this year. Why on earth are they going to do it on Broadway

Condescending much? If you're not excited for this, fine, but don't act like you're somehow better or more 'enlightened' than those who are.

There's no reason to stoop to musicaljen's level and start insulting people.

No, you're not. You said that anyone who us excited by this literally has something wrong with them mentally. Thats notbspeaking for one's self, that's making an unsulting generalization.

Making such a definitive statement like this when The Wiz LIVE hasn't even aired yet is beyond premature. How about we wait until it's aired and see how it's received before we start questioning the wisdom of taking it to Broadway?

Thanks but I posted it last night on the previous page.
I really had to cut my previous message short. To Digific writer or whatever his nickname is, who on earth do you think you are, to tell people what or shouldn't they say. Let alone do corrections
As far as I am concerned you really do not have to be enlightened to see that promos are doing nothing for this show.

"She's not the best actress. She did say that she is studying very hard to nail this role and she is very dedicated to this. I know these are promos but once this goes live, she needs to own it. And shanice is a great actress. I loved her acting here.

The newest preview was the first time I actually went 'uhhhh' when I watched it. Queen Latifah sounds ridiculous as the Wizard, and everything looked so fake when Mary was singing. I'm still super excited, but that was the first let down I've had.

One cannot compare Peter Pan and Sound of Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXEXSDYRMFg
That is a promo to that cannot stand up to anything we have seen this year. The sets looks too computerised and costumes which everybody seems to arguing about are definitely not what I expected. I hope they wont get this creative team for their next live broadcast next year.

I think that the problem everything seems to be rushed. In a week, they released four promos and all four seemed to have been made without any effort, using same shots. I hope it wont be the end of live musicals on television, but I do hope they do something with much better quality
I just wish the estates and rights owners had more respect for the material they license for live television musicals. We already have one filmed attempt at changing/updating The Wiz and it failed miserably. Why are they being allowed to repeat the same experiment and expect a different result? Is it all ego?

I agree with a lot these assessments, especially disappointment over the designs' cartoonishness, but I'm still very excited. It's a great show, with the weakest part (the book) being revised by a master - and with a stellar cast. It's going to be fun. Transcendent? Likely not. But it looks like fun and more energetic than the bloated film.

Do you think it is a good idea for the staging to be more traditional compared to the other live musicals?

The filming of The Sound of Music was quite traditional. It had a very proscenium stage feeling to it.
Obviously they are staging it traditionally so it can be directly transferred to a Broadway Theatre. That, I believe is their intent. The live broadcast being a 2 and a half hour commercial.
