Tea Party folks are going to use this to show how frivolous the Obama's are--spending our money on overpriced B'way tickets.
Oy.
Good for them. I'm a big fan of both the President and the First Lady.

They wouldn't see that, anyway. It's only half-black.
Just like the President.

Posted: 7/15/12 at 2:24pmYou have it all wrong. They were planning on doing lottery but the secret service thought if they called "Barack from Washington D.C." it would be too suspicious so they had to settle for rush.

Posted: 7/15/12 at 3:07pmIn all seriousness, I do really love that the First Family supports theater and sees shows fairly often, it's nice to have someone in office who obviously appreciates and supports the arts.

Per Patrick Page's facebook page, they saw Spiderman this afternoon.
Is that considered a "black show"?

The idea of a masterwork like PORGY AND BESS being reduced to a "black show" is rather appalling. Mrs. Obama's attendance reflects her taste in music, not her quest to see dark-skinned actors on the stage. For what it's worth, when Katrina hit, Condoleeza Rice attended SPAMALOT. People trashed her, but I thought it irrelevant (she was Secretary of State, not Secretary of African-Americans; my problems with her involve Iraq, not Tim Curry's Camelot or whatever she does on Saturday night to avoid dinner with W and Laura). As are these comments about a brilliant woman like Michelle Obama attending an American classic written by George Gershwin. We have so many real problems in this country. Attributing any Presidential theatrical attendance to racial bias is rather pitiful.

Posted: 7/15/12 at 11:31pmWhat time should I show up for rush if I want to get a seat next to Michelle Obama? How are the view from the sides? Are the box office people nice about me NOT being Michelle Obama?

Posted: 7/16/12 at 12:25amNot only are they seeing a "Black Show" but they are seeing a show written by a couple of JEWS. Where is the support for the White Christian Faith!!! An outrage I say.........

Posted: 7/16/12 at 12:44amDoes Michelle sign? Will Michelle sign the playbills of her past shows she has attended or just the current show? Will she say hi to my friend's cat if I record her? If I send her something, will she write back?

I hope so. I can probably understand her better. Michelle can have some high notes, but she has nothing on Hillary.

Posted: 7/16/12 at 1:11amSo, just to make sure I have this straight - Porgy and Bess is a black show and The Addams Family is theater. Have I really absorbed the nuances here?
