Haha, apparently the sound went like... off about a minute into "Ces Soirées-La". And Drew had major lipstickage after "Oh, What A Night" and didn't know why the audience was laughing. I can't wait to hear about the rest of the show.
Oh, and in case no one else got the memo, as per Lauren, Kara is going on for Lyndsey tonight and tomorrow, and for Lauren on Saturday and Sunday.
Would y'all like a track-by-track breakdown of who is what in every scene?
Also, my $0.02 on the Waxman thing. Good luck to Wade on his show, even if he's only gone temporarily. I thought Hickman was absolutely great when I saw his second and third performances in that track (the Sunday RQW was in for Gaudio.) You could tell he was still getting used to things (like the blood packet), but since they were his first few performances, and they were last-minute after Wade got injured, I think he'd do just fine on a permanent basis. I particularly liked the air he caught while jumping in "Working My Way".
Yay! I've seen Kara as Francine, so it'll be nice to see her as Lorraine this time.
There's going to be some kind of live appearance of the Sherry tour (remember them?!) at the Virgin Megastore in Los Angeles on August 2. Catch? You have to buy the cast recording to actually get in line! https://tinyurl.com/2mreru
(So... we had a shallow 4.2 at about 4:42 this morning, and later it reminded me of Erich Bergen's tale of that night in March... )
I hate it when instores have that catch to them and you already have the CD.
we had a shallow 4.2 at about 4:42 this morning, and later it reminded me of Erich Bergen's tale of that night in March Oh yeah, Erich's first earthquake. I wonder if any of the current cast felt it. I slept through it and didn't know we had one until I turned on the morning news. Lizzie, I hope nothing got damaged at your place.

Edit to add: I realized with the apperance for both the SF/Chicago and the Sherry cast coming up, they aren't promoting apperances for either cast on the official website anymore. I remember when Sherry had their fist one in SF at The Hard Rock and Borders. On the screen when you clicked on show locations tab there would be a link that had all the info for the event on the left side of the ticketing tips link.

So I saw the show again and it was great to see Michael Ingersoll back on stage at the Curran. He blends in great with the current SF cast. But it got me thinking, for those who have seen the show recently in LA, what do you think of Steve's portrayal of Nick Massi?
Edit to add: Forgot to mention that Kara Tremmel was on in the Lorraine track today. I don't know if it was her first time in the track but I thought she was great. She sounds terrific during "Ces Soiree La" and as the lead Angel she was good but "My Boyfriends's Back" didn't grab my attention. Actually that song really hasn't been grabbing my attention like it used to since the Sherry cast left. Out of the now 4 girls that I've seen as the lead Angel (have not seen the broadway cast), I don't think anyone has done it as well as Sandra DeNise. She's also a great actress, I really enjoyed how she did the breakup scene with Frankie. She didn't get flirty in the middle of it, which I think Lauren comes off as sometimes, so I found it more believable.

I wish the Broadway cast fans of this show were as energetic in posting as you guys are!
On the topic of Steve, I saw him on Broadway as Nick Massi, and I really loved his portrayal, and thought it was very different than Bobby's, but in a good way. He got laughs in the final monologue, which Bobby doesn't get. Steve's Nick was a lot more loveable and a type of guy that would make jokes, while Bobby's is more sarcastic and dirtier, I guess you could say.
I've also seen Colin Donnell as Nick (twice, actually) on Broadway, and I love his portrayal as well. Colin has a way about him that's very mysterious, and that's a great way to be when you're playing Nick, because he's really the "Ringo" of the group. He's also fantastic in the table scene - the towels story was dead on.
I wish the Broadway cast fans of this show were as energetic in posting as you guys are! That topic was actually discussed a bit at the boards over at the jersey boys blog. I'm suprised that with the amount of people that enjoy the show, there isn't a thread dedicated to the happenings and ongoings of Broadway cast. If there was I think it died quickly. But hey maybe if you start one, they will come. Won't know until you try.
He got laughs in the final monologue, which Bobby doesn't get. Steve's Nick was a lot more loveable and a type of guy that would make jokes... The same thing happens on tour. Steve always got a laugh after he says "It just came out of my mouth" but I don't remember Michael ever getting one there. And I agree with your description of Steve's Nick, that's actually what I like about it. I found that it grew on you the more times you've see it.
The JB show will close at the Curran on Sept 30...since it must.
and then the Vegas cast will "re"-open JB in SF on November 17, 2007 and close after a 3 mo engagement on January 27, 2008 just in time for the February opening in Vegas.
Scarily, that's all completely plausible! I wonder how they'd market it. "You liked it so much and we played to 70% capacity, that we thought you'd like to pay the same for a shorter show this winter, so we're trying out the Vegas cast on you..."
In other news, I saw the matinee yesterday and FINALLY got to see John Michael Dias as Frankie. He was excellent -- something seemed a little "missing" with his performance, but nothing that really bothered me. I'd like to see him again. As for everybody else, they were great, and the audience was totally wild. Lots of fun!

MaryG you really should check out the current SF cast. They are fantastic.
I was going to ask some of the cast memebers when I saw the show this weekend but it slipped my mind. Will the event at Union Square be just an apperance or will they be performing too?
They'll be performing some kind of medley. Supposedly it'll be all four "seasons," although it sounds like they're not sure if it'll be Jarrod or John Michael as Frankie.

Thanks for the info. I hope they do more then just a medley because they have about an hour to fill. Although I'm assuming they won't use it all because they have a matinee.
Hi, everyone. I've been lurking in this thread forever, so I thought I'd join in and add to the LA contingent. That makes it, what, two of us? I don't know why there isn't more activity here. Like how is the stage door in SF? In LA, my first two times, the crowd was literally me and one other couple. Which, actually, is kind of nice :) So many cute things happen at stage door.
I did get to go to the "understudy" show last Tuesday. Eric and Douglas both did great. Eric played Bob in a very straight-forward way, but I'm sure it's just because he doesn't have the experience in this role. Erich Bergen pauses for effect more and is more sarcastic and self-deprecating. He (EG) was also a little rushed, like he cut off Deven a bit when he was finishing the line about calling Gyp for bail money. It was just nerves. I know he said in his blog that Friday night was seamless.
Lots of friends and family at stage door, and I believe there were a couple SF fans as well? They fit the description of some mentioned in this thread. Rick's parents were there, and Douglas got flowers. He told me that the first ten minutes he wasn't sure what to do and that he had the Waxman track in his head :) Oh, and Rick was amazing. He's my number one Frankie.
I thought I'd join in and add to the LA contingent. That makes it, what, two of us? I think you're probably right on that one. There was only one other person in this thread that has commented on the show in LA that I can remember. But hey maybe later on when they actually start touring they'll be more. Who knows.
how is the stage door in SF? The stagedoor in SF I'd describe as pretty relaxed. When the show first started it's run it was more hectic. But now, the number of people I've seen at the stagedoor after probably average between 10-25. But that's for the matinee, it could be different for the evening shows. I haven't been to a night show in a while so I don't know. And it's the usual stagedoor experience. Cast comes out, signs stuff, photos, chat with the people for a few minutes, etc. And since the numbers are small they get to everyone. Then some of the cast usually hangs around the area for a few minutes waiting for the other people in the cast to come out so they can all go get dinner or something. Most of the people who've I've seen stagedoor in SF aren't that aggressive and pushy when trying to get a photo or get something signed by the cast, they're on the most part well behaved. But there have been exceptions.
Just got back! Lots of fun; they did "Can't Take" and then "Oh, What a Night," pretty much the same arrangement as what the Sherry cast did on the Tonight Show. the guys are still there, signing autographs.

Let me add a voice to the LA group - saw it last night with Rick Faugno in as Frankie Valli and he was FANTASTIC! Someone here said he was their favorite in the role. I'll second that.
