Of course tastes vary, but I have never considered JT a pretty boy. He is nice looking, JMO. He is on SNL and The Tonight Show very frequently. I consider Eric McCormack a pretty boy and he was cast as Harold.
I am not against Seth in role. He would probably be very good. I just remember his unpopular turn as host of The Academy Awards and think that might be a negative.

Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana are both interested in this!

I think that new Lena Yitzhak gal would give Seth a run for his money.
I'm not an entertainment news aggregator for a blog or anything, but I do know this much about the business: networks loan out their stars just like in the old studio system days if the loan can be beneficial to all parties concerned. It doesn't take a super-genius to see how casting Seth could work out very well for Fox.

"One should not compare hosting the Oscars on ABC or an episode of SNL on NBC to months of rehearsing, recording, promoting, and taping for a competing network's project. He writes and produces three shows on Fox all while running his own film production company. Seth is not an option."
Just to throw some fuel on the fire, by the time this airs unless he starts a new series his involvement with Fox will be reduced to one, maybe two projects (depending on wether they order another season of Cosmos, which I don't know if there's been any talks about them doing). The Cleveland Show was cancelled last year and TBS is picking up American Dad, which means he'll already be split between networks assuming he remains involved with American Dad.

Posted: 5/15/14 at 4:14pmThat can't be true. Fox would never let that happen. I heard.

Posted: 5/15/14 at 4:24pmSeth is launching a new show to replace Cleveland Show and American Dad, called "Bordertown" about Mexican immigrants and American border patrol agents. Whether he is just executive producer or writer/star remains to be seen.

Umm, finding actors interested in a role is typically not the difficult part.

He will have at least two projects with Fox, at least one with TBS and he is very involved with his film production company, which is beginning to turn out more and more features every year. I just don't see him taking all that time away from previous commitments for a one-night broadcast on NBC. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.
On a side note, we don't even know if NBC will want Seth. Why are we assuming they will? Surely they can get a bigger name with broader appeal that brings in Middle America viewers (ie. Hugh Jackman)

Liza, Laura has said that Marian is one of her dream roles, so we can assumes that at least Laura will audition for this. I wouldn't be surprised if Santino auditions too. Plus, having Frozen, Disney Animation's biggest blockbuster ever, on his resume can help him a little bit.

It is true that Seth isn't as well known as he may seem, at least among older people. When he hosted the Oscars a ton of people had no idea who he was.
Nonetheless, I do think he would be good. And who knows, it might happen. Far stranger things have happened (the studio system lending out is a great example). It's not like any of us actually work for FOX or NBC or have any idea what they will or will not do.
I'm actually excited for this one! GREASE and PETER PAN aren't two of my favorites (especially the watered down GREASE).

I am also excited about The Music Man. That would be great as a Live Musical on television.
My choice for Harold would be either Matthew Morrison, Nathan Lane or Eric McCormack.
Katharine McPhee would be great as Marian so let just wait and see.

You can say that again!
I hope Seth works on building up his stamina so he doesn't run out of steam. I wonder who will play little Ronnie Howard? Too bad Manny and Luke are too tall.

Posted: 5/16/14 at 2:15amI'm on Seth train. He knows and loves this musical, and I think would jump at the chance to do it. The producers are likely Zadan&Meron and they love HIM! NBC is just going to go along with whoever the producers choose like ABC did with his Oscar hosting--the ratings were up afterall. As far as Fox is concerned, it would just make viewers more interested in Macfarlane. Win/win.

If Seth's movie this summer (which he stars in) is a hit, and I think it will be, he'll be very well known by the time this airs.
I can think of no one better for this role.

Here's a clip of his swing arrangement of "The Sadder but Wiser Girl." I"m not sure if this version was originated by Frank, Sammy, Dean or one of the Rat Pack, or if it was custom made for Seth.
