de gustibus non es disputandum
Having said that and the fact that you are brand new, allow me to offer some advise. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, please don't post something that is so contrary to the purpose of this thread. If you despise the show that much and decided to join this board just to state your views, have the b*lls to start your own thread. This is a discussion for those who have an affinity for IN THE HEIGHTS, and the depths of your disdain, frankly, are out of place here. Translation: Only love, no hate.
We return to our regular programming already in progress....
And thanks hon...53 days is waaaaaaay too long.

Wow, that's the first person I have heard that thought the show was terrible. Oh well, to each his own.
I can't wait to see it again!

If you don't like the show, at least have the courtesy to offer constructive, smart critique rather than spouting hateful garbage. Plenty of people have expressed why they don't like ITH in ways that aren't offensive to those of us who love it. Try to learn from them, ok, mijo?

okay, let's move on, people like that (who post negative messages in a love thread with no insight or backup) are only looking for attention so let's not give it to him.
I seriously can not wait to see this show again. I am kind of upset about the line change though. Can they really copyright something like that? My friend made a good analogy, she said that's like someone suing the producers of Rent for using "chestnuts roasting" or "oh holy night!" lame.

Having had experience in clearance rights briefly, you won't believe the things that are now copyrighted or that cost money. If anyone sings "Happy Birthday" in a movie or on TV has to pay for it! Same with "Jingle Bells" Crazy

I explained EXACTLY why I didn't like it - the "Hackneyed Plot" that is soap opera ish. The plot is so sentimental and manipulative - you can see the grandmother dying a mile away and then to top it off she wins the lottery????? COME ON!

I would honestly love to know how the plot is "manipulative," but whatever.

I don't have my playbill handy right now but I'm pretty sure there are credits in the back of the playbill for all of that.

Way to endear yourself to the boards, DW... :))
anyway, as mentioned before.. there are numerous other "ITH" review threads where you can post your displeasure of the show. Sorry that you didnt like it. This thread was started for people that love the show.
Anyway, just got back--- Seth was out. Saw him before the show leaving the theatre, and definitely looked like he was limping.
Rickey Tripp went on for Seth and was very good !!! They changed up a line during "96,000"- (unless Rickey just changed it) - When GP normally says "thats a lot of spray cans", he said "thats a lot of t-shirts" instead- Not sure if it was intentional.
Show was great as usual !!! Olga Merediz was collecting tonight for BCEFA, and she is just so humble, and a sweet person !!!

So I won the lottery tonight and saw the show for the first time and it was great! I had so much fun and thought the whole cast was fantastic. What beautiful voices!
A very creative, fun, and intriguing show that I would not mind seeing again!

"Pollito Chicken" is a copyrighted song. So they not only had to change the lyrics, but the music, as well. The updated version certainly works well enough, so it's not *that* big a deal. Still heartbreaking, but oh well.

You're right, Chica... missed "Pollito", but the song still works.. didnt really mind it at all.

^^If they took out that line I'd be kind of upset because I think it's hilarious.

I loved that line. I don't really know why but it just stuck with me.

Aaaw, they're trying to make the show more family friendly.
They should do an adults only night, where all the characters curse, and Carnaval del Barrio turns into a massive group orgy.

Listen to the interviews/podcasts I recorded last week with Andrea Burns and Robin de Jesus! They are two of my favorite Broadway actors! I love the show and plan on seeing it many more times. Enjoy the podcasts. Joel

Went to Heights today- matinee. Rickey Tripp was on for Graffiti Pete- I love that he says "that's a lot of tshirts" in 96,000, like he has his own line for when he's on that's different from Seth's.
Had a question for you Heights experts that has kinda been answered here- I was wondering about the new "Keep the ring...", as I loved "F*ck the ring...", apparently that's a new line...
However, today at the matinee Andrea's line before Carnaval del Barrio was "...show some freaking spirit," not "...show some f*cking spirit,"- is that a lame matinee only line change, and she still gets to say "f*cking spirit" in the evening shows? Or is this a new line too?
Also- so NOT a fan of the new Pollito Chicken part of Sunrise- completely understand why it had to be changed, but the new lyrics are just...awks. Maybe after a few more viewings I'll forget what Pollito Chicken was and I'll get used to it, but...yeah, not a fan of the new lyrics there.
