I'm *almost* ashamed to admit that I have become addicted to this show...and now for my thoughts...
I think that, while I think Lauren is a stronger performer, Autumn is the most 'right' for the role of Elle. She has a strong voice, has professional experience, definitely has the acting chops, and is the most convincing as a law school grad. Lauren, for an 18 year old, is incredibly talented and while I would love to see her win (she has been my favorite from the very first episode), I think that she needs a bit of experience with the show under her belt before taking-on Elle. I think either casting her in the tour, according to the word on the street, or casting her in the Broadway ensemble, would be the perfect step leading up to her as Elle, IMO... Rhiannon, while she seems like such a sweetheart and definitely has some talent there, isn't up to par with the Broadway performers' status. Maybe in a couple of years, but I don't think she's right for it. Elle is a vocally and physically demanding role and right now Rhiannon wouldn't cut it. Bailey looks perfect as Elle. But lately, that's about it. Yes, she can definitely dance her butt off and does have a strong voice, but I agree (*gasp*) with the judges when they tell her she isn't 'being' Elle. I feel like she is doing what she thinks they want her to do and isn't making the role her own. I was sad to see Natalie go before Rhiannon.
I can't wait to see how the next couple of weeks play out...
If Autumn does not win, I will be quite mad. She has the best voice there.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Autumn is my favorite closely followed by Lauren. I'm crossing my fingers one of them wins instead of Rhiannon, who I actually like, but she isn't 'ready' to take on a big broadway role, or Bailey, who I can't stand in any way shape or form.
Autumn is very talented, but she just doesn't seem right for Elle to me. I wouldn't be upset if she won because she's talented, but, yeah. And her dancing wasn't that good, which could pose a problem.
I don't know why they kicked off Natalie before Rhiannon. Singing chops are a must in my book.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
I haven't seen every episode, but I saw last night's, and Autumn won me over (but I haven't seen her dance?). I hope she wins. Too bad her new hairdo is... not the best.
I've heard several people (including the judges), say that Autumn is believable as a Harvard law student. She also has to be believable as a Sig Ep sweetheart and president of her sorority, and I don't see that in Autumn. Yes she is talented, but I don't see a lot of "Elle" in her. If I could build the perfect Elle.....hmmmm. Autumn's acting, Bailey's dancing, Rhiannon's personality, and Lauren's voice. = Laura Bell Bundy!
I agree with you on some level. Ideally I'd love to see Lauren as Elle, which will hopefully happen sometime soon, but I feel like someone with Autumn's abilities and professional experience is most 'up to the task' at this point. But my fingers are crossed for Lauren, for sure
If there is one thing I've learned from this show, it's how to count. "There are five of you left. Four of you still have a chance. One of you is going home. There are two names on the list. That means that three of you are not on the list. The first name on the list is ______. That means you still have a chance. There are four of you left. That means that three of you are not on the list. That means that one of you is going home."
This is the part in the episode where I start laughing hysterically. If that's what they think is building suspense, I feel very sorry for them.
The hair coloring was a reality show moment. Elle Woods wears a wig, they chould have just put blonde wigs on them. Even if Autumn's hair is blonde, it's too short for the role (and, by recent pics, is red again). Pointless.
And it took them turning her hair blonde to realize Natalie is wrong for the role. She's talented, but she'd be better cast as Serena.
i couldn't believe how terrible rhiannon's singing was and then bailey didn't show any emotion during the song and then afterwards she was crying because she said she identified so much with the song, what's up with that, go Autumn
I actually really like LBB. I don't think anybody will be able to fill her shoes.
I agree. I like LBB and I think she left some big shoes to fill. At this point, I think Autumn would be the best choice. Each girl has something Elle-like but none of them have the complete package. Hopefully, the winner (whoever that may be) has improved even more since the show stopped filming. Updated On: 7/8/08 at 01:06 PM
I think all the girls are super talented! This is such a great way for people to audition who aren't in NY. Go Bailey!! SO bummed Emma got voted off- she is WAY talented for sure.
Wheni t comes to dancing Elle doesn't really have that much if you think about it; "What you want" and "Positive". So The fact that Autumn isn't that great of a dancer isn't really that big of a deal. I think the singing and acting are two of the more important aspects of the show, Autumn can definitely do both very well. She can work on the dancing, but it's not that big of a deal if she is not an amazing dancer. Updated On: 7/8/08 at 01:21 PM
After watching Rhiannon's video, her emotions were solid, so it didn't bother me as much when they just isolated that one really bad musical moment. Andy Karl was off too. I'd rather have her miss a note and really "get" the moment. But beynd that, she just can't dance the role as crisply as needed.
Bailey is just a robot at this point.
This was filmed after the production aired on MTV right? So Bailey could have very well studied Bundy to become, what she thinks is the "perfect Elle". And she does act/sing from her arms.
I'm in love with Autumn! Although she may not be the best dancer, she has the best acting and singing capabilities. I watched the full performances, and she was the only one who I actually, sincerely believed.
Lauren is an incredible singer. Her singing chops are amazing for an 18 year old, but there's something she does when she sings that annoys me. I can't put my finger on it just yet, but I'll figure it out. But, to me - she's the second best performer left.
I personally can't stand Bailey. She acts just like a carbon copy of LBB. The thing that really stands out for me with the other girls are their unique qualities, and for Bailey, I don't really see any. I noticed that she can't really hold out a note long when she sings. I just can't see her performing 8 times a week without straining her voice.
As a performer, Rhiannon has a wonderful spirit. She has stage presence, but she's just not the best singer or dancer. I love her acting choices - but she likes to use her hands a lot.
I love Autumn too!!! I want her to win! Bailey kind of annoys me! Rhiannon seems like a fun person to be around, but I don't see her as an Elle, at least not yet. She's not a strong enough singer, but I hope to see her in something in the future. Lauren is great! I don't know if she is ready to take on a role like Elle just yet, but maybe in a year or two! She is going to be amazing!!! Autumn...just cracks me up!
Autumns audition last night was killer. She really hit the nail on the head with the "Legally Blonde Ballad". I loved Lauren, too. She brought her own singing style to the number, and that caught me off-guard...delightfully so! It's hard to believe that she's only 18.
I've loved Autumn since day (aka "So Much Better"). I still think she sparkles. Even if she doesn't dance amazingly (I'm NO judge) she does it with so much personality and as someone posted, Elle doesn't dance TOO much. I DO think she can pull off sorority sis well, she's cute and bouncy and kinda quirky. Also, I adore her personality and think it's suited to Elle. Plus, girl can sing. Just LOVE HER.
Lauren - Very talented, AMAZING voice, but her acting isn't amazing. Not bad, I just don't find her compelling.
Bailey - USED to love her but 1) her personality seems annoying 2) she's not good the serious or semi-serious stuff. She needs to play a different kind of role, a Vicki in Chorus Line or Ado Annie in Oklahoma type of deal. Spunky and cute.
Rhiannon - I was really impressed with her acting but surprised they didn't choice Natalie's singing over Rhiannon's presence. If she can't completely sing the role (I don't have much of an ear but could hear this was off) it's further proof she should be Margo, as I've said. Cute, bouncy, sweet, but not quite leading lady yet.
Natalie - Oooh I liked her so mcuh but she was kind of flat acting wise. Yet so was Bailey, and they've both been impressive before, but I guess Bailey had more presence tonight so that's how they chose. Anyone wonder if she misinterpreted Andy Karl's advice and tried to look thoughtful, NOT look angry or sad? I do think she's very talented and hope she goes far. A softer role, perhaps. Can't think of anything at the moment.
Andy Karl: adorable. And to those who thought they completely chose the Top 15 through dancing, remember the audition reels which are fun to look at. Also, someone somewhere said they think the challenge "who's the worst _" was kind of a test which sounds legitimate. I'm so addicted! AAH! PS: I'm so glad someone else thinks the title ballad sounds like "Part of Your World"/ "Somewhere That's Green." Tangent: Would Rhiannon make an awesome Audrey or does she not have the voice?
