Quote: The "ruining" happened the second someone came up with this stupid idea.
Yet somehow you come on here and read the thread. If it's such a stupid idea, why are you wasting your time reading all about it? lol
As for the rest of this thread, I don't put much credit in anyone coming on here and saying they know who won. There are four women left, so at this point anyone has about a 25% chance of guessing it right anyway. So all of you who said you knew who won, and then they end up winning, it still is no proof you had any idea ahead of time.
Who do I hope wins? Lauren I think she has the most talent out of anyone, and I don't think age should be a factor. Autumn is 28, if she's so great why hasn't she already been cast in a show? I'm not saying that she's not good, but just showing you can twist anything into supporting who you want.
There are also many other professions where age is not a factor. Many highschool and college athletes have made it into the pros, and were just talented enough to play at that level. So please quit using the excuse that Lauren is only 18 and too young to get the lead. If you have a problem with her auditions, then so be it, but then give some examples. She has continued to improve very quickly over time and is the triple threat: singing, dancing, and acting. Baily can dance, is an ok singer, but not great at acting. Autumn great singer, acting is ok, but low on the dancing side.
If it's true about the two week contract thing, then I'm disappointed. What a waste of time. If they really screened the girls as you would think, then how would they not be able to find someone completely capable of performing long-term?
Finally, I read this entire thread last night, and all I saw were references to Lauren getting the part of Margot in the touring show. How is this known? Many people kept asking that question throughout, but I didn't seen an answer. Granted it was late and perhaps I missed it, but I'd like to see the proof for that as well.
Anyway, I think the show has been fun. If you don't like it, then don't watch it and stop complaining about it.
The problem wasn't with Lauren being too young to handle the role, but looking too young next to her co stars. Her with Christian Borle is borderline pedophilia!
Toddchris- 1. Regarding Lauren, everyone saying she is too young, they are saying she will look to young against all of the other leads. Christian and Richard are in their thirties annd Kate is in her late twenties. They are supposed to be her age in the show, so it would look wierd. They are not saying Lauren isn't talented enough to play Elle because of her age.
2. The two week contract is only a trial. If the show goes well, and sales are good, they will extend her contract (same thing happened with the Grease winners).
3. Although Autumn hass not been on Broadway, she has done tours, and other professional theater, to say that is she was good she would have already been on Broadway is a riduculus comment. Updated On: 7/12/08 at 02:09 PM
The show is HYSTERICAL!!! One, because none of the girls are good, 2 because the "auditions" they put them through are ridiculous, and 3 the judges are morons. Equity would have a sh*t-fit if someone wanted to have auditions on concrete let along a cobblestone street in stilettos. Could you imagine Patti Lupone being told she had to sing Everything's Coming up Roses on a treadmill to see if she could handle the role???
Where the hell is the director or at least the lead producers (who should have control over casting)
And why didn't ONE of the judges realize that almost all 15 girls were off pitch in the first episode? (maybe they're too used to Laura Bell not hitting the note!)
The chorus boy judge's comment about it being too late to call an understudy in? It's all one joke after another.
Its all just hysterical. Thankfully the show is crap so I find this all par for the course. I'll be buying a bottle of booze and sitting through the rest of the episodes... I'm not sure if all the Legally Blonde stuff is a low for MTV, but its certainly a disgrace to Broadway. At least the other great blonde on Bway, Suzanne Sommers, knew to close her show!!!

Back to the age thing. You make it sound like they're 20 years apart in age, and besides I'm sure hair and makeup would have no problem making Lauren look a little older, although I really don't think she looks that young.
I think the better question is why are they casting men in their 30's who are supposed to be earlier 20's? Well, most likely because they auditioned better and they could pull off the age needed, but remember this is theater, not film where it would be more noticiable.
All I said was that someone could use that argument about Autumn in comparison to saying Lauren is too young. I mentioned that it didn't mean she has no talent.
I think they actually are about 20 years apart in age. Christian clearly looks like he's in his late 30's. I think Richard looks close to that as well. Did you see Lauren with Andy? It looked ridiculous and I think he looks younger than Richard and Christian.
Kate Shindle would look so much meaner picking on a girl who looked a decade younger than her and about a half a foot shorter.
I think Lauren is a good match for the tour if the rumor of Tracy being Vivienne is true...but I am wary if it is Jason Gillman because...wow, that would be almost as bad as Christian.
I can't believe you think Christian Borle looks late thirties. I think he has a boyish face, and looks younger than Richard Blake. The first time I read his age, I was shocked to see he was older than 25 or 26.
Richard Blake is 33, so he is actually 15 years older than Lauren. I believe Christian is older than him. But the point is, all the actors are in their 30's or close to and Lauren is 18 and looks 18. Elle Woods isn't even 18. I do think the girl is talented, but she needs a few more years before she is Elle ready.
Also, the cast and everyone involved with the show had to sign iron clad contracts with MTV and if any of them so much as give anything away, they suffer a huge penalty. I Would say it's probably a monetary fine, but their job would probably also be in jeopardy. So, that's why it seems to be kept under wraps so well.

Well considering Christopher Hanke and Barrett Foa are in their early 30's, I can definitely see Christian being closer to 40.
Austengirl, it's similar to the casting at Spelling Bee. All of the actors looked around the same age so playing younger characters was not as pronounced as if there really was a 13 year old playing Leaf. There was a suspension of disbelief.
Elle is 22-26. Lauren looks 18. That combined with the fact that Christian and Richard do not look to be in the 22-28 age range will make her youth seem jarring. It's the same as the current Mark in RENT. He is age appropriate but everyone else is around 10-15 years older than him. He sticks out.
To my best recollection Christian Borle was born in 1975, so that would make him 32 or 33 depending on his birthday. I think he could pull off late twenties easily, but I agree that Lauren would look young next to Borle or Blake for that matter.
