""And pipe down? Excuse me? My entire post was related to the topic for which this thread was started. I made one relatively tasteful statement regarding my stance on homosexuality (which the thread starter DID bring up). But then, of course, everyone jumps down my throat for being intolerant of their opinions, while they cannot seem to be tolerant of mine.""
Interesting.
And thank you, Katygrace84.
I'm sorry, Elphaba, but I have to say in Derech2's deffense, he (she) has yet to be blatantly rude or resort to namecalling...he has fairly addressed the topic at hand honestly. Where as you have repeatedly called him a bigot and a hater...who's hating who? I'm not trying to throw fuel in the fire, but I just think we should all attempt to be as mature and fair as possible.
JRB--The more I read you, the more I respect you. I do not understand the notion of "support" in the context that it has been used. What am I missing here?
Yeah, I don't know what it means either. I mean, you would think that Derech wouldn't watch Rent; that is certainly supporting homosexuals. I mean, that applies to most musical theatre :0)
You can say (though it would be sad if you did) "I think homosexuality is wrong" or "I don't like giving homosexuals rights" but saying you don't support homosexuals is extremely vague.
-Anyone want to turn anarchist with me?"Bless you and all who know you, oh wise and penguined one." ~YouWantItWhen????
isn't it obvious what berech is trying to say, he/she/it doesn't believe that faggotry is a natural occurence. He beleives people choose to be gay and thus it is not the same thing as race or gender becuase those are things you can't choose (gender to a lesser exent because we do now have gender reassignment, but you get the idea). That is where he falls into a pit of ignorance.
well you know what berech, I didn't choose, and no one i know did. did you CHOOSE to be straight (assuming you are, unless you are one of those pathetic self hating queers). Did you one day make a conscious descision to like someone of the opposite sex?
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.
Actually Derech, I'm sure you support lots of homosexuals...anytime you buy a ticket to Rent or any other musical for that matter, a good amount of that money is going right into the pockets of more than a few homos.
How sweet of you!
And I still can't believe you made an example comparing opinions on a war where thousands of people have been killed to opinions on something that effects no one but the two people in a relationship.
jrb_actor, actually you have no idea with whom you are dealing. It would be ridiculous to assume such. When I addressed my question to chita33, it was regarding specific statements she made of which I did not understand correctly. That is childish and belligerent? No.
Not really, jrb_actor. There would not be much point beyond stating my beliefs (obviously quite dangerous), as I am certain you would not change my opinion any more than I would change yours.
oh please, you know we would rip apart your reasoning and make everyone see (except obviously you because you are beyond help) jus how much of an ignorant, biggoted, fool you really are.
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.
I think we've hit the nail on the head....derech is a coward......there is no reasoning with people like this. they do this just to stir the pot. Must be a very sad existance......keep apologizing for the example derech........you are only making yourself look more ridiculous.
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...

jrb_actor, I'm sorry, my opinion not fit for public? I do not agree with homosexuality. I believe it is a sin. If my opinion is not fit for public, I fail to see why I have been participating in this discussion. If I was concerned about keeping my opinion away from the public eye, I would not write this: I believe homosexuality is wrong. How many different ways do you care that I express it?
I have been called: cowardly, a bigot, and a fool (and other less offensive terms). Let's just resort to name calling, why don't we, but I can assure that will not progress your argument. We call it ad hominem. Any Latin scholars out there?
But since you all seem to so curious, my PM to chita33 was a matter of clarification at the risk of misunderstanding each other. It seems you're eager to have me repeatedly state my opinion so you can a) feel offended b) resort to name calling or c) in some way further demean me. Forgive me if this is a misconception.
