Does anyone know if this is for TOFT or if it is for commercial release? Have they recorded an archival copy in the past?
Edit: I know that because of a rights issue with the London cast recording, there can’t be a Broadway cast recording. That wouldn’t affect a proshot, right?
Second edit: Like others are saying, I think it is probably for TOFT. The NYPL’s catalogue doesn’t show a recording of this production so that’s probably what this filming is for. That’s a shame… I’d do anything for a proshot of this cast/production.
The plan I always heard was no cast recording but Netflix was filming it. I also heard London was proshot for release but was going to be put on hold to see what happened with broadway. Idk. I think if it would have ran until October before the great terrible awful news that made it close early that it would have been pro-shot.
LCT regularly films shows very late in their runs. Plus it hasn’t exactly been easy to schedule something like that ensuring the full cast would be in.

Some of the best audiences tonight!
but I was not so lucky. Those two people in front of me kept talking in almost every musical number, especially if Patti is in it - they mimic how Patti was singing , how she was talking, moving, walking. MY GAWD
I shouldn’t complain, as Company has been filmed often. But I have heard so many good things about this incarnation - including from my daughter, who saw it last month - that I’m still bummed they couldn’t film this version, and this cast. It’s not like the revival didn’t win any awards.
According to friends in the show the rain was a mistake tonight hence why it was less then what it used to be. Don’t expect rain for the closing weekend.
I work at the Performing Arts Library. The taping last night was for TOFT. As far as I know, this video will not be restricted in any way (that is, no advance permission will be necessary), but if I hear otherwise in the days to come I will post about it here. This production of Company was not previously taped by TOFT, despite efforts to record it earlier in the run. Long story.
Incidentally, while it was true in our early years that shows were sometimes taped towards the end of the run, after the original cast had departed, that's seldom the case now. Shows such as The Producers and Book of Mormon were taped early on, when all original cast members were still present. Occasionally, for various reasons, a key cast member is out when a show is taped. (For example, Audra McDonald was not in the TOFT taping of Master Class because she was taping an episode of the Cosby show that day.) But we make every effort to get the original players, especially Tony winning performances.

it hasn’t rained in like 5 months, weird that it would be set …?
From friends in the show, aside from last night, the show has been filmed in full once before so there are now 2 full films of the entire show. This first filming is what was used for the KEEPING COMPANY WITH SONDHEIM documentary as well as in the B-Roll footage.
