Jeffrey Karasarides said: "This is what Stephen Schwartz told Observer not too long ago: "When we were adapting it, we kept trying to make it one movie, but we kept finding we were having to cut things that we didn't want to cut. There were some areas we wanted to delve into the movie that we weren't able to do, for various reasons, in the show. Also, to be honest, we found it difficult to get past 'Defying Gravity' without an intermission. We even discussed doing the film with an old-fashioned intermission, like Gone with the Wind and Lawrence of Arabia and movies back then. But ultimately, as we were working on it, it just came to seem we had material for two movies.""
Well, if they put in the intercourse with sentient animals and the orgies then I’m in!

My prediction is that we'll get casting reveals in the next few weeks.

Ariana Grande posted on her ig a picture of a pink binder with a pink gift and inside was a necklace with a “G” … I think we might get some news soon that they begun rehearsals

My prediction is that Hannah Waddingham will play Madame Morrible. I may be wrong, of course, but her latest social media interactions have led me to believe that she’s involved in the movie.

You must be looking at Cynthia Erivo’s social media as there is ZERO hinting of anything you’re talking about on Hannah’s social media that would imply WICKED.

I'm still hoping that Waddingham replaces Leavel as Miranda in Devil Wears Prada, which would make her unavailable for this. :)
Waddingham would be perfect for Morrible though. But it's not the star casting this role should get. Still hoping for Bette, or Cher, or Julie, or...Liza.

Perhaps someone here can confirm or deny but there was some buzz/blind item about how supposedly the wicked movie is very behind and they in fact have NOT started rehearsals or filming.

If the Olivia Rodrigo/Nessarose rumors are true, I’m honestly bummed from a disability representation point of view - especially since they rightly went out of their way to (rightly) cast an Elphaba of color. There are SO MANY both known and unknown disabled actresses out there, Nessarose does not need to be a big name part, and between movie tech and assistive device tech the transformation/walking scene would be easily done. Anyway, just a rumor but In the context of cultural conversations happening now… not a good casting look.

The movie literally announced they were casting an actor who uses a wheelchair

Wow! They obtained clearance from Warner Bros. to use that image of Ray Bolger as "The Scarecrow." Nice.

A regular on TheatreBoard has said they have it on good authority that Hannah is Morrible.

Kind of a waste of her talents, IMO. That woman is a star.
She'd be insanely good in Devil Wears Prada.

Hannah Waddingham may be a bit of a celebrity now thanks to Ted Lasso, but she hasn't had a major movie role yet. So I wouldn't necessarily call her a star. Although she would be an interesting choice for a couple reasons:
In the stage version, Madame Morrible has usually been played by middle aged/elderly actresses. Hannah is turning 48 in 11 days. I’ve previously suggested Glenn Close, Angela Lansbury, Shirley MacLaine, and Emma Thompson for the role.
Morrible in the stage version has a very small singing part. Waddingham is already an accomplished musical theatre performer. Since this is going to be a two-part adaptation, will she be given more stuff to sing?

Maybe they're going in a younger direction with Morrible.

The Wicked film adaption will now begin prinicpal photography in November after an extensive rehearsal process starting in August.
Deadline reports that the year-long filming process will take place at the newly-built Sky Studios in Elstree, England. Director Jon M. Chu and writers Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz are currently preparing for the rehearsals in England.

I find it interesting they report it by saying " now will start".... I hope they keep this date and not move it back...
they do have a two years to get part 1 done, so I guess they are on a good schedule....
Im guessing they are rehearsing dance numbers, songs, and pre recording during the month of August...
Looking forward to seeing who else is casted in this movie

Both parts of the WICKED film are scheduled to be filmed in a year production schedule. It’s not a 2-year production schedule. Each film is being released a year apart, that’s all.
