I'm excited Kyle Harris is going to be Tony. Ever since that viral video of him singing Tonight (I think it was about facebook or something), I thought he would be perfect for the role.
I was hoping that Natalie might tour as Anita. No such luck!

That was him? Ha! Web Site Story is a great little video.

Well, now that she is a mother, I imagine that touring would be out of the question.
So glad they got a dancer for Anita. Kudos Michelle!!
Great cast. I saw Ali in "Les Miz" twice in NYC as Cosette, and 2 summers ago as Maria in "West Side Story" in Pittsburgh. She was wonderful!

I notice the press release does not mention the Spanish lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Have they perhaps scrapped them for the tour?
^ A lot of it was scrapped in the Broadway production now too. The only Spanish I remember in the songs was a Spanglish I Feel Pretty.
Unless things have changed since a few months ago. "I Feel Pretty" and "A Boy Like That" are a Spanglish mix. And the Sharks still sing their parts in the Quintet in Spanish. There is still quite a bit of Spanish dialogue.
I saw it in May & 'A Boy Like That' was definitely all in English.
You are probably right about 'Tonight' though.
Well that's bizarre. The big change was that both songs became a Spanglish mix. I'll see for myself when Karen returns soon (once was enough with Natalie).
Let's hope they revert back to the Jerome Robbins' original America choreography.
I saw the show in late April or early May and "A Boy Like That" was definitely in spanglish.
Does your playbill have a translation for both songs because mine only has one for 'I Feel Pretty'.
It only has "I feel pretty" translations.

I saw the show yesterday. It still is.
I'm surprised Tedder would leave a Tony winning musical to do a tour? But, hey to each their own. He was a stand-out in Memphis, and I'm sure this is more fun to dance.
The quintet still has the Spanish verse for the Sharks.
I Feel Pretty and A Boy Like That are still a mix of English and Spanish, though they both lean more heavily towards English. There was a period for a while where they were tinkering with both numbers and the ratio of English to Spanish. I was at one performance where both songs were entirely in English, save for very small snippets, but that didn't last long at all.
As far as the America choreography, I doubt it will be revised. Natalie Cortez (who I thought was wonderful, as is Olivo, for the record) has been playing Anita for the past few months, and she's perfectly capable of dancing the original choreography, but they never reverted back to it.
Tedder left because his Snowboy track also understudies Tony, like Mike Cannon on broadway. I guess he wanted to do a bigger role, or at least understudy.
If the understudy order will be the same as Broadway then Tedder will rarely ever be on. Mike Cannon has been with the show since the opening & he just had his Tony debut on May 19th (Which I saw). I don't think he's been on since, but I may be wrong.
Maybe there was Spanish in 'A Boy Like That', but I don't remember it.
