I may see this tomorrow or sunday, and will report if I do. Can't wait til it opens, if for no other reason than a certain new poster who has said he's only here for this show, will go AWAY!
Forever.
Forever.

I saw it again last night. They made it really good. I'm not kidding. Just between Tues and last night was SUCH a difference. I swear. It came together. The last song is gorgeous. Sherie is phenomenal. Its still not perfect but I had a great time and frankly, the audience did too. I feel like I've been pulled through the rabbit hole with thing and came out the other side. totally obsessed. You guys are insane. What's the next show?

^ Was there a new "last song"?

The final song is Sherie's solo of "Shoes From Heaven."

They put that back in? I definitely think it will work better as a solo but it seemed kind of out of place as the finale (but it is a gorgeous song).

Saw the show at today's matinee. I guess I was helped by lowered expectations, or maybe they have done a lot of work in the last few days, but I thought it was very enjoyable. In the scope of all musical theatre, it is fairly mediocre, but I thought the score was vibrant, and a cast working well as a very solid ensemble.
I don't get the hyperbole of what an awful, terrible mess it is. I thought it was miles ahead of Memphis, at least.
Mitchell's "Microphone" song and "My Crazy Heart (reprise)" could stand to be cut, they are weak songs that slow down Act I but other than that it is a tight piece. I also loved Sherie's solo that ended the show, I thought it was poignant and tied things up nicely. I appreciate them not going for the big, splashy production number when that was not what the moment called for.
I would definitely see it again, although I'm glad I didn't pay much more than I did for it.

Do we know what the investment is of this show? I'd imagine it's quite large, considering, well, everything.

It's $5 million. But this is non-profit theater.

If I wasn't so certain that this musical season is going to be AWESOME, I'd stand by the notion that this has as good a chance of winning the tony as memphis did, even in its current state.

It this opened last season (which was rumored at first), it would certainly have deserved to beat Memphis.

Outofsight, did you notice if people in the audience went from a standing O at the end and then immediately went to the box office to buy more tickets so they can see Women on the Verge again?!?

If you were anything more than a phony, Kyle, you would know that there is a long tradition of shills coming to Broadwayworld and making that exact claim. In the Life, Urban Cowboy. Actual, enormous BOMBS. But the shills made said people went back to that box office and bought more tickets. When it was pointed out to them that box offices aren't open after evening performances, they never posted again. As you claim you will do when opening night comes. Of course, you couldn't know this history, because you're "new."

I notice Riedel hasn't written anything about the show yet.

No, he hasn't. They're pretty lucky, lol. He seems too determined to destroy Spider Man.

arrrgh! I knew I shouldn't have gotten sucked in here. No, people did not storm the box office (closed) after the show. I saw it Tues and it was much better than I'd been reading here so I decided to say something and I went back last night to see the changes (tragic, I realize), because I could and there was a good ticket. My only point is that I thought it was really good, not perfect, but really good and you all made it sound like it was some sort of disaster, which it just is not, at least to me.
