Re: Warriors tix?

We all know why the prices for desirable seats are so high - because Warriors will have to be a massive hit for a long time to have any chance of recouping. I am both curious and skeptical about this musical, and we opted for slightly less expensive seats (Row R on the right side) than we briefly considered.

No idea on staging, of course, but we’re close to where we sat to see the Sweeney Todd revival a few years ago - and that will have to be good enough.

If I lived in NYC, I would probably wait it out. But I am in town on vacation in early April and already have bought tickets for 4 shows before this one, so our options were Sunday or Wednesday. Thursday, it turns out, is Opening Night. Price and seat availability determined the rest.

Well here’s hoping David Korins, who’s doing the scenic design for this does something interesting to combat the common sight line problem for this production. Oh, and for the record I saw both Death Becomes Her and got to usher Sweeney Todd and from my perspective I saw no issue from up there

The show will also sell the first two rows for $19.79 via lottery, beginning March 9, 2027. More details to be announced at a later date."

The first two rows being a $20 lottery is laudable. Calling $79 "affordable", and shoving every person that does not have $150 into a lottery for the privilege to spend that amount, is not
"

While they do have cheaper seats, OPERATION MINCEMEAT has a similar lottery for $79 advance tickets - usually for the first few premium rows - which has seemingly helped their long game in part by creating repeat business . We don’t know what seats that lottery is offering yet, so this might be very similar to that.

Re: Warriors tix?

As soon as I got the email yesterday I jumped online to get 2 tickets for March 20th. $269 each plus fees but so what. Hubby and I have been waiting to see this.
I've been playing that concept album for 2 years and I'm so glad so many of the performers on that recording are cast in the show now.
*Wishful thinking, but wouldn't it be cool if they cast James Remar in the show as the cop...It would be one scene but would be a nice extra touch.

This is all almost exactly my situation. Already there in April, already had purchased several shows. Only slots I had open were Wednesday before opening and Saturday, and the prices being much lower on Wednesday opted for that. I ended up in Row S, in the middle on the aisle. The LF is so huge, but thinking this may be sort of a spectacle so hoping we're not too far back. But wasn't paying the price to sit closer

Re: Warriors tix?

i'm a little surprised tickets are only available through mid-June.

Are they anticipating some kinda post-Tony surge that can justify them increasing the prices even further? Or maximising current profits by limiting the window?

How can LMM still regard himself as a champion of the working class?

"

Ticket prices are outrageous and out of control -- I'm not trying to defend them at all. But with that said, LMM isn't solely responsible for ticket prices; it's not as if he's the sole, lead producer who's making these decisions. I'm sure, as he's done withHamiltonthere will be some reduced-price scheme -- but it's still commercial theatre, with a hot property. And I think his philanthropic works speak to his commitment to the working class.
"

Can't he work with producers that DO NOT rip off their customers? Do such people exist? If not, can't he juut produce it himself at a fair rate? Could Usnavi afford this show?
"

You'd have to ask him yourself -- since he (and his now multimillionaire dad) make up 50% of the lead producing team:

The Broadway musical adaptation of Warriors is produced by Thomas Kail, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Luis A. Miranda, Jr., and Jeffrey Seller

Re: Warriors tix?

Do any of the usual excuses cover this? High production costs? Union rules? Inflation?

Is he seriously worried about recouping?

Re: Warriors tix?

Semi-related rant, but what is it about the rear orchestra at the Lunt that seems to amplify the noise from the ushers and latecomers behind?

It's awful, isn't it? The Jacobs is "almost" as bad in my experience but each and every time I've had to sit or stand near the back at the Lunt, it's just the most infuriating experience.

Probably both

Re: Warriors tix?

I’m not surprised at all about the ticket prices. OF COURSE they will start high. The chance to see LMM’s first new show since Hamilton is going to be of interest to a lot of people — including scalpers. And if it doesn’t sell at that price point, then they can reduce, or they can add more inventory to the $79 scheme. (I don’t think this is guaranteed to be a hit. It’ll start strong coasting on Lin’s name, but the show itself will have to rise above Lin.)

These prices could also be way worse. There is a nice selection of good orchestra seats under $195, and $99 mezz seats at some performances.

the Tonys likely will be the 6th or 13th of June. Warriors tickets are only on sale through June 13th. It's hard to deny the timing there, but I can't figure out how waiting for the post-Tony surge would work relative to dates in the second half of the month. It's not like they could wait until the 7th or the 14th to release seats for the 15th ...

... is it?

Re: Warriors tix?

I’m sure a new block of seats will be released no later than the day after opening, if not sooner. Many a show has put a limited number of weeks on sale first to push buyers to early perfs.

Re: Warriors tix?

I think this is going to be the new norm: a marketing ploy to create the illusion of scarcity, push people to early performances, encourage FOMO, etc. Just like Masquerade, you're not spending tens of millions of dollars on a limited run.
