Oy. Adam's gonna get so much sh*t for not signing autographs, and it's probably not because he's skipping out, per se, but because Anthony is signing and he's not. If it were just that Adam didn't sign, there would probably be less whining. Everybody has a certain amount that they're willing to put up with. Personality differences, people. Learn to accept them. I don't really think it's fair to put one up against the other, but that's just my two cents.
Yeah, siamese dream, but even on nights when Adam does sign at the stagedoor, people STILL want more from him and chase him down the street to get pictures. Or hunt him down in Toys R Us. Adam has stagedoored for the majority of performances, but a few matinee audiences miss out and suddenly he's accused of being a diva? Please. People need to get some perspective; just because he's not Anthony doesn't mean he's a horrible meanie that won't let his darling little fangirls tell him how much they love him (and demand 15 different individual pictures, of course...).
hermoinejuliet...what are you talking about? I only posted again because you didn't understand my first post and needed the clarification.

How many times have you seen the show since A&A returned, Siamese?
More than I care to admit! It's probably at the point where it's not as special as I'd like it to be anymore, but I also feel like I might as well enjoy their performances while I can, especially with people who love the show as much as I do.
The incident after the matinee didn't quite happen just as the poster described. Adam came out of the main doors and was able to escape the crowd, my friend just happend to walk into him and she asked if she could take a picture with him. He was very nice and he agreed, but he asked her to walk down the street a bit so they wouldn't be seen. They did, but it didn't really work out the way Adam had planned, I guess and this group of crazy girls started to run after him. He was pretty polite and he said "Guys, I just want to go get some lunch and do some shopping," and he turned around and walked away. He wasn't rude at all.
Saw the show tonight, first time with Adam and Anthony. Absolutley blown away. I'm still on cloud nine. Adam and Anthony were both amazing, everything I hoped for and then some. I don't really think Tamyra is Adam's equal as Mimi, but that could be because I don't really care for her Mimi. She didn't make the role her own and she was pretty emotionless in the key points (Another Day). I'd love to see Adam with Karmine, I think that would be something special.
It's always surprising how people get these ideas of entitlement about performers - at what point did stagedooring evolve into a requirement? Adam doesn't deserve a bad rep for missing a few days.
Uh oh, the stage door debate rears its head again. It's really not a requirement, especially under these circumstances. Yes, I was disappointed that it turned into a zoo and I won't be able to meet him, but whatever. I bought a ticket to the show, not a meet and greet.
I wish they had a rush for Rent, although people might start lining up at like 6 am. I want to see the show again this week, if I can.

"I wish they had a rush for Rent, although people might start lining up at like 6 am. I want to see the show again this week, if I can"
I tried lotto Friday night, and both shows yesterday. And was shocked by the crowd size. I lost all 3 times. It is tough though, because I would love to see the show at least one more time before the guys leave, and I will admit to being a bit spoiled and would love to see it from the first two rows just to be *that* close.
I can't usually play lotto on week nights because of my work schedule, so that really only leaves Saturdays. The busiest day of the week. Throw in 2 busy upcoming weekends that allow no time for lotto and a trip home for Labor Day and I feel like their run is slowly slipping away from me.
I am thinking I will just have to suck it up and buy another ticket. The price that I will pay will most likely equal the time (and stress) I would save by not planning out times to sneak out of work for an hour to play the lotto ; P Plus now I am a bit curious of the view from the Mezz. I truly had never even really thought to ever sit up there, but people seem to really enjoy the view. Hm.

Mat., if you do sit in the Mezz. I would love to know what you think. I generally try to secure Orch tickets if possible, but I am curious about the view from the Mezz., too.
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
Some of you people are CRAZY! Stalking these poor actors is really way out of hand. You stalkers need to realize that you are coming across as true nuts!

I know, I understand why they stopped doing that. Do you think that people would still line up the night before like they used to? Not including Adam and Anthony's run.

But would you personally be getting rush tickets after Adam and Anthony's run? Lotto has worked at Rent for 10 years. You only brought up Rent having rush NOW because you want guaranteed tickets while Adam and Anthony are here. That totally negates the claim in your last post.

matjomae & hermionejuliet: about the mezz thing... I've seen Rent twice, once in Row E of the orch, once Row G of the rear center mezz. Both seats, in my opinion, were excellent. Obviously, there is nothing like being that close to the stage in the orchestra seats, but the view from the center rear mezz was perfect as well. No one's head was blocking my view and you get to see the big picture. And especially since the Nederlander isn't the biggest theatre out there, being in the second-to-last row as I was still was a perfect seat. :)

I wouldn't call Adam a "diva" at all. I did the lotto last Wednesday evening, and after the lotto crowd had dispersed Adam came out the main lobby door. (My friends and I were waiting to see about standing room tix.) One girl quietly asked him for a picture and he stopped for her. No one else approached him and he walked off down the street. Seems to me like he is happy to meet fans but doesn't like the screaming insanity of the stagedoor. I don't blame him.

What was the claim in my last post? I probably wouldn't, but would be much more inclined to try the rush rather than try the lotto, because at least with rush you are guaranteed seats if you get there early enough.
But that wasn't the point of my post - I wasn't complaining about the lotto system, and my personal preference about it is separate from the question I posed, which is whether or not everyone thought the rush lines would be out of control like they were when the show first opened IF the show still had a rush. Of course it would be now during Adam and Anthony's run, but I'm curious as to whether it would be when they weren't part of the cast.

I agree, avab. Most people here know that I've been a fan of Adam's for a long time and that we've met several times. He has never been anything but extremely kind and gracious to me. As time has gone on, he's been a lot nicer than any actor is "expected" to be to his fans, and very forthcoming about his gratitude for my ongoing support. But I don't push his buttons and I don't cross the (very obvious) lines. It seems as though he's quite happy to meet his fans, but doesn't have the ultimate threshold for putting up with the deafening screams and fans who are crazy to the point of annoyance. And frankly, I don't blame him for not wanting to put up with teenybopper bullsh*t.
But avab802, did you win? Or does this mean the Rent lotto is rigged?
misschung, you originally posted to say that you wished Rent had rush instead of lotto because you wanted to see it this week. Not a hypothetical situation after Adam and Anthony leave, your intentions were to see them. So were they to magically start rush this week so you can get your ticket, people would be lining up the night before to get tickets. That was what I was responding to. It won't matter to you what Rent's rush policy will be after Adam and Anthony leave, because you won't be seeing it.
And for the record, yes, I do believe people would be lining up the night before to get tickets. There are fangirls that sit around the Nederlander all day even with the lotto; there's no need to give them a legitimate excuse to do so.

Broadway Baby- Thanks for your input. I saw Rent in Chicago from the balcony of the theatre, and I felt really disconnected. I figured it might be better at the Nederlander.
Orange Skittles - I do believe that you are arguing for sake of arguing with just about anyone. That's pretty unfortunate because this is one of the most positive Rent threads I've seen on this board in awhile.
Even if Miss Chung was wishing for rush for this month, the question is valid. Would people still line up for rush with a "normal" cast? I am sure that people would still line up very early for shows; I don't know about overnight. SA is new, and from what I've heard, kids aren't spending the night for tickets to this show.
However, I think that one of the reasons they stopped Rent's rush was for safety purposes... and if not it should've been. It seems that now days, many Rent fans are younger than ever. These kids do not need to spend the night on the NY streets.

So you continue the argument. That makes sense. And don't accuse me of "ruining" the Rent thread; it's had negativity since the third post. I've made quite a few positive posts in this thread, but I guess with your agenda, you'd prefer to ignore those.
misschung's comments didn't make any sense to me; I was trying to figure out the intentions of her post. Does she want rush in the longterm because she think everyone else can benefit? I haven't heard any complaints about the lotto at Rent in a long time that would be fixed by rush. Actually, the main problem I've seen with rush is that the same group of friends that sees Rent every single weekend manage to monopolize the lotto. That would only be exacerbated by offering "first come, first serve" rush tickets, because it takes away the "chance" aspect and basically guarantees that every single rush ticket will be snatched up 4 shows a weekend by the same 40 people, over and over and over again. Had anyone seen Rent previous to July 30th, they would know about this longstanding problem and would realize that rush is not a logical solution for Rent.

- .3 %, lol, I think they'll be ok. The gross went up $1,000. I know the numbers WILL drop after the last A&A show, but I hope this has renewed enough interest in the show that they don't plummet immediately.
BroadwayBoobs: I'll give all of you who weren't there a hint of who took the pictures ...it rhymes with shameless
"Had anyone seen Rent previous to July 30th, they would know about this longstanding problem and would realize that rush is not a logical solution for Rent. "
Seriously? I do believe that a few people in this thread have seen RENT at the Nederlander before July 30, 2007. Just possibly... Since the show has been running for 11 years.
BUT, believe it or not *gasp* some audience members don't attend lotto at all. They actually PAY for a ticket, and don't gripe about others who secure lotto tickets.
ETA: Glad to see that the box office is still doing well. I hope it continues for their entire run!

Antiandrew is right about the incident after the matinee, having been there myself and being the girl in question. I was getting there to help my friend win lottery tickets for the night show, and quite literally walked into Adam. I politely told him I thoroughly enjoyed his performance, and asked if he would mind taking a picture, and he asked if I would mind walking a bit down the block so he wouldn't get mobbed. Of course, it didn't matter to me, so we did, and he was very kind and gracious about taking the picture. Of course, five seconds after we were done, a group of loud girls started chasing him down the block, at which point he said that he needed to eat and go shopping, and asked them to back off. Anthony came out the main doors with him, but from what I saw, he got away quickly and no one said anything to him. Though when he reentered the theater a few obnoxious people started screaming, squealing, and shoving things at him, taking his picture, etc.
