Wow. That's all I can say about the show. Just wow. Well, that and I thought the majority of the cast were only so-so, I perferred some of the tour's ensemble to what I saw tonight but that's beside the point.
The crowd was very high energy, but not overly so. There was clapping during La Vie Boheme, and Adam started cracking up but that was just a nice addition. The show was great, and my usher was named Angel.
This Angel fellow also happened to be manning the barricades. In a muscle shirt. It was pretty hilarious. Anyway, I managed to get a front row spot with my mom right behind me creating space (moms are great) and I was right up next to Anthony's car. He signed both pictures I had of him from his talk at Florida State Uni. and he was mildly amused by them... I had this huge fantasy about how he would see those, remember meeting me and then talk for a second, but that was very unrealistic and I am very, very thankful for the few words I did get in with him, he's great. And I love him. And I love his Tango: Maureen.
Adam didn't come out of the stage door, but that's fine with me because it's a mob scene and I'm sure he needed to go to his wife and kids... He was excellent as well... just can't get over how great they were.
In sumnation (is that a word?): It was awesome. Updated On: 8/11/07 at 12:30 AM
The rumor about the girl breaking her leg isn't true.
And honestly? If it were? You're the one choosing to jump into moshpit-like conditions. If you're going to post on BWW asking about the best way to stagedoor, rush out during the curtain call to get a place up against the barricades, and then get upset because you got pushed/bruised in the process? Don't blame the huge crowd of people shoving you or the Nederlander for not having the facilities to deal with the Boy-From-Oz-esque stagedoor. If you get hurt, it's no one's fault but your own for putting yourself in the middle of that situation.

Pretty much. Especially since most anyone who has been in an actual moshpit will tell you it's not really moshpit conditions. I mean, I don't remember anyone falling on my head or barreling into me or just blatantly causing deliberate physical harm to me.
If you've ever stood in the middle of a standing room general admission concert, particularly a rock concert, you will have experienced what's happening at the Rent stage door. If not during the show itself, at least during the rush for the exit.
I did, however, get bruised in running after a certain friend who was having a near panic attack. Accidentally discussing Pascal's sexiness, with him clandestinely and swiftly taking his escape right next to us on 41st. If only he knew the pain he's caused.

Bleh. I wish Marcus would go on as Collins more often. Even if I'm not there; more people need to see him.

I went to the matinée performance today with jlc6314.
I'm too tired to discuss it now (jlc went to the evening performance today also) and I'm going to Syracuse for my cousins wedding tomorrow- I'll try to do a short review sometime in the near future. Only Anthony and (I forget her real name) - the one that played Maureen came out the stage door. Apparently Adam was eating lunch. **jlc- can I have the crust? **
Anyway, I have a ton of pictures of Anthony and the crowd of people. I will TRY to post some of those in a little bit, otherwise sometime during the week. I also took a few videos at the stage door too.
Anyone else go to the matinée today?

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
