Thank you incendiary_wit!!! You have made my day today!! YAY!! Oh, and plus: after Mark says, "there is no past" Roger goes "thank god this moment's not the last" That must have made Mark think (if Mark was a real person that I wish he was) "I wish it was, because then I could be with roger freely!" Mabye, sorry. I go into stories way to much. *hides out of imbarasment*

Mark slash can be funny occasionally I guess. Lol. But I do have to agree with Emcee.
As for Neil Gaiman(I hope I spelled that right) Sandman is really cool and in the words of my boyfriend "it's suprising he sometimes writes children's books". Sorry we had an entire conversation on that today, which was very interesting.

Okay, don't get me wrong. I'm a TOTAL sap, and the ones I've read, yes, I've admittedly enjoyed because they're frigging adorable. But adorable if I put other characters in these places. I just can't get myself to see that as Mark and Roger. I just never thought they were written that way. *shrug*
Totally non-sexual love. Mark absolutey *loves* Roger, but because he cares about him, he's worried about him, and because they're best friends. Not because he wants to sleep with him.
This is funny. Well I can't even remember the last slash I read so there you go. It is interesting though. This is probably going to sound really corny and stupid, but I just saw Mark and Roger as two guys who obviously love each other like brothers. Okay enough sappy weird stuff. Why do fools fall in love?

It is weird to me that Anthony never saw Mark as gay. I always have. he is so sensitive. I still don't think there was anything between him and Roger but that just may be because I project my own relationships onto the characters so I can identify with them more. I see mark and Roger as BEST FRIENDS who will never leave each other. Mark plays an almost parental role to Roger at time and Roger although appreciative for the love and concern, resents Mark for that a bit. He wants to be treated like the adult that he is, but doesn't see that he needs Mark and needs him in the role of friend/care giver.

Couldn't have said it better myself about Mark and Roger. Where would Roger really be without Mark?

Does Roger really resent Mark or does he resent the situation and the fact that it's put Mark in this position, and made him be that sort of caretaking figure it his life?
Thanks for the humongous (sp?) update! I'm so excited for the movie!

The choosing was not...

Hello Anthony! Thank you for your answers. I'm so excited that you may actually talk to me. :) I hope you'll answer this for me, or I hope you'll let me know if it's been answered before. Is there going to be any original music in the film? I've been looking forward to this movie for so long, and I'm so happy it's finally happening. I wish for you and all of the people involved with the movie blessings and happiness.
out of the 525,600 times that i have listened to the obc recording. the five times i have seen it live, the one bootleg i saw, and the 3 times i have read the rent bible. I have never seen Mark and Roger together. The thought had never even crossed my mind until you guys just brought it up! I think that they are both very straight!!! I think the relationship that they have is a very deep friendship but i don't think it goes beyond a friendship. Mark is way to caught up on Maureen, and Roger is way too caught up on April, and then Mimi! Also by judging Maureen, I don't see Roger as a Maureen type, and that is what Mark liked, and then i don't see Mark as a Mimi type. She is way to take charge and i am this, while Mark is there but he is kind of in the background. "Mark hides in his work" I don't know i just do not see these two together i really think they are too straight!!
I kind of like theat they never come out and say I'm gay or I'm straight or I'm Bi in the show. It helps the audience to find the character they identify with. I identify with Mark the most in the show and therefore have always thought he was bi. Others will disagree.

And you're right Footloser ^ I agree. Well, It's just my opinon, you don't have to agree. But, Mark is so sensitive! He is gay!! And I just think he likes Roger more than a friend. *shrug*

I guess what I like about how Jonathan wrote Mark is that it doesn't matter if he's straight (which we ARE led to believe) or not (slashy!), because he spends so much time behind his camera, watching, that he doesn't get a chance to look at himself, and neither do we, as the audience.

I just realized, your last name is Butz! Both "Norbert" AND "Butz" are in your name! You must have gotten picked on a lot as a child!
Hey Anthony, this has probably been asked a lot, but do you think that you might ever return to RENT on Broadway? along with the rest of the OBC or at least some of you from the movie? I loved Matt Caplan and Cary Shields when I saw RENT, but it would be awesome to see you and Adam because I love both of your voices! *sigh* Ahh I cannot wait for the Rent movie! Oh, and my friends and I are going to have an "Anthony Rapp Themed Day" when David Searching comes out on DVD..we're going to watch it at my house, listen to your CD (which is AMAZING, btw) and listen to some Rent and YAGMCB songs :) Thanks for being such a great performer/person/role model. You are amazing! :)
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps...
What did she realize, Kitten?
That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs.
What's wrong with that?
Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had...
Where?
On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.
*sorry for interrupting your thread discussion* :)

we love you, anthony, and wish you luck! you will continue to get recognized for your work; soak in the places in the U.S. where you can still be anonymous - none of you will be by the end of the year! keep up posted on all of the fun news and have a great spring.
What an update! You're fingers must be sore as hell but thanks as always. A nice thing to come home to after a tiring day at the Venice Boardwalk. Anyways, thanks for answering all those questions. I honestly didn't even remember asking one of them until just now. :-P And I can't wait to see Rosario and Adam singing LMC! And I'm so happy to hear that RENT will not have to suffer any censorship. It's great to hear that you guys are staying true to the messages and plot of the story and not holding back on showing any and everything.
Oh the slash, I honestly don't know what to say about it. The fics can be entertaining, I admit but its just everyone's own individual take on the characters I guess. Some people see Mark as gay and other's see him as straight. What can you do? I mean everyone is entitled to their own view on the characters. I, myself, always saw Mark as straight until I read these fics and now I guess I could see it either way.
Anyways, hope everyone had a happy easter! Remind me to never go away again, I leave for 2 days and look what I miss on this thread! :-P

You know I bet you could gather all of your posts and put them all together to make a book on "the making of" the movie RENT. Hell, I'd buy it. Someone should think about saving these posts especially since Anthony won't be able to post anywhere but the official RENT site soon and this thread could fade away over time. I mean there's not really a point to an Ask Anthony Rapp thread without Anthony Rapp. :-P
