Eventually it was viewed more for pleasure than for pacifying, but there were sure plenty of times when our son was little that we were extremely thankful for that movie! btw, I first learned of the video from the child of a friend; I sometimes babysat he and his younger brother.
Fun movie ... still viewed from time to time in our home ... agree it's one that can be viewed over and over. Sure has been here for sure!! Some days I can recall it being played pretty much over and over ... AIB marathon! Great cast too ... gotta say, Anthony pretty much steals the show though!
Saw the AIB discussion and just had to chime in with our family's story! Sometime I really should spring for the dvd version. :)

And as for AIB, the funny thing is that I am a huge fan of Back to the Future and it wasn't til a while after I saw AIB that I realized that Elizabeth Shue also played Marty's girlfriend Jennifer in BttF. :-P She is a great actress and the cast in that movie was superd.

Anyway, reading all the posts is quite entertaining, so I shouldn't complain all too much.
Thanks once again for the updates, Anthony! Great to see you still have some energy left after those long days filming RENT to post here and answer all those zillion questions we have concerning the movie.
I don't know it the film will ever get to cinema's over here in Europe (after all it isn't as well-known over here as in the US, with the Broadway show and the different tours going on), but if it does and there will be a promo-tour: make sure you get to the Netherlands if you get the chance! It would sooo kick ass to be able to have a quick chat with you (and maybe some of the other OBC members) in real life...
But enough freaking out for now.
One question left in general: could someone point me to the thread/post where the songs that are in the movie (or were in the movie at that point) are posted? Quite anxious to see what they did with "Over the Moon", since that was the song that got me listening to the OBC more than once (didn't like the whole RENT thing at first, seems almost impossible to imagine now) and it would be interesting to see how that comes across on film (without the interaction that you have at the live show and stuff...).
Cheers!

There's the post on this page, and then it sort of continues on the a few pages later in the thread, because Anthony accidently forgot Light My Candle and I Should Tell You, and nearly gave 20 people heart attacks in the process

I saw the Empire article that's been posted elsewhere, and laughed at the typo of my name in it and had to pay tribute. Anyway, I'm happy to say that the article captured Rosario's voice and energy perfectly. She is very articulate, funny, fearless, and alive, and I think that came through in the little piece they put up. It's always nice to see the press come through like that. But Rosario's a good interview subject, I would think, so she probably makes journalists' jobs a lot easier.
Anyway, I realized when I answered a ton of questions the other day that I didn't talk a lot about what we've been shooting, so I wanted to give a little update on that as well.
Monday and Tuesday were spent in a local middle school auditorium, where the Life Support meetings take place. As you can imagine, both days were quite somber. They were also technically somewhat complicated, because the group is sitting in a circle, which means that there have to be more lighting and camera set ups in order to capture everyone onscreen. So they were among our longest days so far. But as with everything else, I can safely say that the look of the shots was beautiful (Stephen Goldblatt, our director of photography, is a GENIUS), and I was very impressed with the clarity of purpose and sensitivity with which the new cast members approached their work. I imagine it might have been a bit strange for them to join up with the rest of us after we've been together so long, but if it was strange, it didn't stop them from bringing their all to the days.
So there was the first Life Support scene, when I burst in and make a bit of an ass of myself, and Will I?, and a piece for Without You which I won't give away, but if it works the way it's meant to work, I think it will be quite moving.
Then yesterday was spent with Roger at the Continental Club (as has been posted elsewhere on the BWW boards) with April, followed by a brief rehearsal of tonight's work, which will be the New Year's Eve scene, although without the song Happy New Year. We'll be fending off the neighborhood's crackheads and crazy iguana-toting ladies (yes, you heard me, crazy iguana-toting ladies) all night long, I imagine. Should be fun. And it won't be nearly as chilly as it was in NYC at night.
Oh, one other thing. Not to get in the middle of another thread's drama (which shall remain nameless, as will the participants in said thread's drama) but I wanted to clarify something: the movie doesn't open with the song Rent. I won't say more than that at this point, because that would be giving away privileged information. But I think that the opening that's being planned will be pretty damned effective, and "Rent" will follow right on the heels of it in a way that will make *that* song even more effective. At least that's the plan so far.
Hee hee hee, I get to taunt you with information sometimes. It's fun, I have to say. Let the speculation fly...
Take care --
Anthony

Oooh, thank you for posting about what all's being shot! It's so tantalizing...it's really like giving candy to a child. Or maybe like giving wine coolers to an alcoholic. I don't know. But it's dangerous.
Good luck evading the "crazy iguana-toting ladies"....I suppose that's all I can say about that...
Good luck, break a leg, and have tons of fun!

<.<
I think it's terrible...taunting...*sigh* It makes me want to know more, and see the movie 4 times more than I thought was possible.
Are you enjoying San Francisco so far? Are you getting enough sleep? (I know I'm not, especially this weekend, but Relay for Life is a good cause so I'll live)
Wow. That is thw most ADD post I think I've put up. Ah well...time for orange juice.
and to close a joke for all those bleary eyes.
How many kids with ADD does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
...Let's go ride bikes! *runs away*

Glad to hear that the filming's coming along, Anthony. It's nice to know that the new cast members are finding their place with you guys and doing justice to their characters.
And no more taunting! Just out with the info already!
Take care...have fun!

aaaanyway, I saw some pictures from.... yesterday, I guess it would be. Adam looks fantastic all made up for the flashbacks, and the Cat Scratch exterior =
Oh, question. I read somewhere that you guys were actually going to Santa Fe. Is that true? Things really seem to be going all-out for this movie... I'm glad to see it.
Okay, well, good luck fending off those iguanas, as well as the individuals toting them. Have a blast, and stay safe! Oh, and by the way - I like the new last name. It suits you.
