ummm... sally, aren't all movies in theatre's BEFORE they go to video...
School night, namely, tonight...and it's a two hour drive.
Oh, and then there's the small fact that I've seen it twice and my parents think that's a huge waste.
AND they keep playing the card of "You had a chance to go in October when we were in the city!"
Yeah, I had to choose between RENT and the gig at Kean. Gee, hard choice that was...

yay anthony's back!!!!!!!!!
NTG, parents can be so rotten sometimes..
nope some movies aren't
Sally--no, not all, but they'd be nuts not to show RENT in theaters first. Although I doubt the planning has actually gotten that far yet. Wouldn't that be a post-production decision?
Angel--yeah, but seeing as how they just agreed to buy me a guitar I can't really say that right now...and they *did* take me to Kean, which was a three hour drive even from where we were staying...
I just realized that we have yet again totally threadjacked.. We are sooo bad.. **slaps wrists**
Well that was cool of them, I remember when mine got me my keyboard.. It was cool because I got it for Christmas, but as soon as I opened it they told me that if this wasn't the one I wanted we would go get a different one..

"And when I saw the tour cast last year, half the audience had walked out by intermission. "
That's so sad... *meanies*
And yes, we are on a small threadjacking stint... ::oopsies::
[...Chanukah is just around the corner (I thought it was late this year but apparently was wrong as it starts, if I remember correctly, December 7th...)...haven't really asked for anything yet...but I do speak often of shows I'd like to see sometime, etc...]
Ooo I have a keyboard too...and a grand piano...so I really shouldn't be complaining. But still.
And it's not totally threadjacking, cuz it's RENT, so it's semi-relevant. But I shall shut up now.
I wasn't knocking it, I was just pointing it out.. We all seem to be good at the threajacking..
I just dont understand how ANYONE can walk out of RENT.. They just dont get it I suppose! It's sad. I know that there are RENT haters out there and they are entitled to their opinions but come on? I find them NUTS!
It's because they were a bunch of conservatives who got offended.
Most of them were elderly ladies who had subscriptions to the theater's season and didn't really know the show.
As, I am guessing, were the 30 or so people who walked out of Kean. Not counting the autograph sharks who went out into the lobby halfway through the show cuz they thought...oh, don't even get me started on that. I wanted to hit them all. Except that I got like fourth row seats whereas I had been in the back...

Now that is funny.. Maybe they learned to look into what the shows were about after that! Serves them right! hehehe..
Speaking of audiences walking out, we actually had a ton of people walk out of our production of Once Upon a Mattress last season.. They were completely offended. It was the most bizarre thing in the world!

"The CBers do seem to hate it, though."
Wow. (thinking about the state of that screenplay)
Have you read through that thread? There's some liking, a lot of lukewarm feelings, and then HATE.
I'll say this much -- and not with much care as to how Anthony Rapp responds to this should he read it, because I think that as a fellow queer, he needs to consider this: Despite a few pleasant touches, the screenplay is an abomination. I doubt the gay community will be particularly pleased with the way that Chris Columbus's Mrs. Doubtfire sensibility figures into his treatment of Angel and Collins. Whew. Maybe he has a big heart as Whiteboy Spice said an earlier post, but it's pretty damn clear from that screenplay that when Columbus saw Rent live, Mimi and Roger's relationship was the ONLY one that he could relate to! Whew. BAD.
I'm switching to the Memoirs of a Geisha film bandwagon.

I thought the original first Chobsky draft was amazing. I do have to say that, on paper (and we all know how much it can change before an opening) I am not impressed with the newer script. I am more than willing to discuss my thoughts with anyone at anytime. Take care.
