I couldn't agree with you more, I had the pleasure of meeting him backstage after a performance of Man of La Mancha.( saw it 10 times ).
He was both gracious and amazing to speak with. Our photos are posted on the Actorsfund website.Broadway needs him back...

I would see this as a great opportunity to learn from and bask in the genius of another more skilled actor or professional. I'd say, Sondheim, Julie Harris, Meryl Streep, DeNiro, McKellan to name a few.
The list would not be long but it would be storied.
