I think they take their time and have a ton of requests. I sent to Cinderella early May and did not get anything back until late June. I'm guessing a lot of people were writing for Fran.
This is a little off topic, but last week, I sent Idina Menzel a letter and my If/Then playbill. How long does she take to get back, if she even gets back?
I want to send to Idina Menzel, Megan Hilty, kristin chenoweth , and Annaleigh Ashford but some of them aren't on broadway now :3 does anyone have the address for them so I can send it or something. This is my going to be my first time sending someone something so I don't really know how or whats acceptable or not any advice>
There is NO way of knowing how long it will take for a person to respond, you can get an estimate by how long others have waited, but that is no guarantee- They will get back to you when they get back with you. I know people who get their stuff back in years, when people who sent to the actors the same time got it back in weeks- you just never know.
So I just got back from vacation and checked my mail. Of the seventeen theatres I wrote to on June 26th, I got 7 back! A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (signed by the full cast, and the Playbill itself was from April) Beautiful (Pride Playbill) Newsies (Pride Playbill) The Cripple of the Inishmaan (Pride Playbill signed by the whole cast :) The Book of Mormon (Pride Playbill) Matilda (Pride Playbill) Mamma Mia! (Pride Playbill)
The post office returned the one I sent to Phantom back to me. I'll probably try again, and will update here if I get anymore!
Just got a response from Kinky Boots! The stage manager sent me a cast signed playbill (when Jeanna was in the cast) and got Haven Burton to sign a Shrek Playbill from the tour and a playbill from Legally Blonde when she played Margot!
Today, I got a response from Wicked! Not only did they send a Pride Playbill like I asked, they also sent back a personalized letter from 'Glinda and Elphie' thanking me for writing. I was very surprised and touched.
Also, the letter I sent to OF MICE AND MEN bounced back. I will be dropping it back in the mail (turns out I messed of the zip code) tomorrow.
I'm down in the US so managed to buy some stamps so I can send SASE for Canada. I'm thinking I'm going to send letters to Sierra Boggess, Betsy Wolfe, and Caissie Levy to start. We'll see what comes of it. It will be my first time sending fan mail.
I got a Pride Playbill from All The Way, signed by Bryan Cranston (like I had asked). I had sent a yellow Playbill, but I'm very happy to have gotten back the special one!
"Mr Sondheim, look: I made a hat, where there never was a hat, it's a Latin hat at that!"
I also received a Wicked playbill signed by the company! It was from march of this year which was strange but still cool! The letter they sent is really amazing and they also sent a signed picture of Christine Dwyer as Elphaba.
I'd like to write to Idina Menzel but I don't have anything for her to sign. Can I just ask her to send a signed If/Then playbill or does she not do that?
I don't mean to sound completely idiotic. (I've never done this before) I didn't even know you could send them things. I going to write to them right now. I know its VERY late but do you think they will have any Pride playbills left?
Finally have some time to write my letters this week. Was thinking of sending letters to Sierra Boggess and Caissie Levy, Kyle Dean Massey, and the stage manager of Bullets over Broadway and maybe Violet. Is it poor form to write to a specific actor and tell them how much I love them but then politely ask for a signed playbill? I want to write to a couple actors because I'm big fans but then want to also try and get a signed playbill.
