I was wondering, what is the big deal with Broadway and the view. I mean I always read in threads when a new show opens that maybe they can get a spot on the view and sell tickets ect. Now, maybe its just me being a striaght guy But, I don't understand why that show in particular is associated with it. Not, saying I hate that it is. Just saying I don't understand why it is. Anyone willing to make it clear for me?

Because it's filmed in New York and has a format conducive to performances?

What do you mean "has a format conducive to performances?"

Most of the national TV outlets don't care about Broadway, unless a Hollywood star has been cast. "The View" has always been pretty good about booking theatre guests, but now with Rosie, the show has been including many more Broadway performance segments, similar to the way her own talk show promoted Broadway. It's one of the few TV shows that devotes some time to Broadway, and does a pretty good job at producing and filming the performance segments. With the ratings for "The View" up in general, it's just a good place to be booked.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Since Rosie started on The View, there has been a 10x increase in Broadway show performances on that show. I know because I'd write down in my calendar when to set my DVR. Before she was there that calendar was very bare except for may be a performance on the Today Show.

Go Rosie! And Trump is an idiot!

It's because of Rosie.. She had tons of Broadway stuff on her show and now she's brought it to "The View." I love it! re: Why The View Go Rosie!

Love her or loathe her, Rosie's accendency in the national zeitgeist seems to coincide with Broadway's great leap in self-respect, the appearance of sites like this one and the amazing pr job that the business is now doing. Rosie's old show seemed to galvanize Broadway's "hey, WE are America's entertainment industry" attitude because she endlessly hyped musicals and good for her. We owe her a debt of gratitude ad maybe some support as she battles the dark beast that nows seems to be threatening her....

I am a striaght guy and I don't watch the view. That is the reason why I asked the qustion. I just can't stand that show. And personally, Rosie is someone I can take or leave. I was just asking why the view when there are other shows that are nationally broadcasat and are taped in NYC. Such as Good Morning America or Regis.

I think for GMA, Today Show and Regis there has to be an interest from the show or the producers. When Rosie had her show she had Broadway on there all the time... When she went off we didn't see Broadway that much on TV. Regis and Kelly used to have a "Broadway Week" during the time of the Tonys but I don't think they did it this past year... I just think Rosie enjoys Broadway and wants to advertise it as much as possible... Don't get me wrong sometimes the other shows will show Broadway but Rosie is one that really pushes it.. Just an example: If Kelly would have left Regis and Kelly and Rosie took her spot I'm sure Rosie would have pushed the shows there...

Please don't slam me for saying this, but as I was thinking about this question, I was reminded of "Hairspray" and the line "And once a month we have our ***** day." That's the way it is with most of the national shows. "Okay, whe have to do Broooooodway again, don't we?" But Rosie is like Tracy Turnblat. She really loves musicals and inherently wants to incorporate musical comedy into the national dialogue.

Straight men don't watch The View, but women do. And women are typically the ones that make the theatre decisions for themselves and/or their families.

The View (namely Rosie) is important as well because Rosie always fought for the production values to best represent the shows, whether it be stage, lighting, etc. Most shows won't put in to do much beyond moving some chairs to get a couple of people from the show in the shot.

I still remember when the Lion King first came on Rosie and they somehow managed to do Circle of Life by covering up the walls and removing a lot of the set - you don't get that kind of dedication anywhere else.

And Rosie has always been a proponent of making sure kids and families are exposed to musical theatre as much as possible, to make sure that Broadway thrives and kids have theatre and the arts in their lives. Just look at this week's episode of The View where Rosie's Broadway Kids came on, she made sure the kids had time to say what performing has done for them.

Nobody cares if you're straight. It's nobody's business. I don't know why some straight people have to make a federal case out of their straightness and shove it down our throats. Whatever happened to discretion? We're just going to presume you're gay and be done with it, okay? There's absolutely no need for us to hear any of this crap.

I would agree with you, Namo, if there wasn't a certain number of gay people who flaunt their sexuality on a daily basis. The fault is on both sides, really.

The reason why I mentioned my sexualaty is because the view is a show that is not targeted to straight men. Not, being in the target audience there seemed to be this whole "fuss" bout it and broadway and i couldn't see the conection between the two.

I wasn't shoveing it down your throat. I was saying that I am straight and you don't see a lot of straight guys watching the viw. And Everythingtaboo answerd my qustion very nicely. they said that a lot of broadway shows are on the view cus its target audience is women who are home during the day. And its true that a lot of broadway tickets are bought by women more than men so it makse sense.

Maybe you could've just asked a question instead of mentioning the fact that you're straight. I mean, what difference would it make when you say your sexuality?

As a straight man who watches THE VIEW, GO ROSIE!!

It's not a matter of Broadway shows CHOOSING which shows to perform on. It's getting the booking. I'm sure of [INSERT ANY SHOW NAME HERE] had an opportunity to perform on ACCESS HOLLYWOOD, TVGUIDE CHANNEL, or ELLEN they would be. But they're not because they are not invited.

Welcome to Hollywood.

Again, GO ROSIE AND THE VIEW!!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
