The show will always hold a special place in my heart, as it was the first show that got 8 year old me hooked on theater for life. Although, I'm not sure if it was the show, or the score sung by Idina. I'm not fond of the story line of the show, though. It's a bit hard to follow in the theater if you haven't googled the synopsis beforehand. The two friends I attended the show with, along with their parents were trying to figure out the storyline well after the show had ended. Overall, it's a fun show, and my pre-teen cousin would like me to take her. I certainly don't mind seeing it agin. Hope you are able to go again!

Interesting Fun Fact: Before the musical was developed, there was talks of WICKED to be adapted into a miniseries with MALEFICENT writer Linda Woolverton who was supposed to write the script which was to be "faithful" to the book.
Yet, when Marc Platt became involved, he decided to adapt WICKED into the musical that we all know and love/hate.

Not sure where the plot gets confusing, I had known the plot before walking into the show. The general census I get from those who go is that somewhere along the line things get confusing. I also know a few people who went to see the show purely for the music and zoned out during the dialog. "Defying Gravity was great, but where was the scarecrow?"

It's just too overproduced for my taste. I spent most of the performance scanning the stage, trying to figure out who was speaking or singing. And poor Joel Grey, saddled with that stinker of a song in the second act. But I realize I'm clearly in the minority, and it sure has provided a lot of work through the years, which is always a good thing.
Being the show that first got me into theatre, this one will always be one of my favorites. Don't listen to the haters; if you liked the show, all the more power to you, and I'm happy you enjoyed it! :)

If I were Boq, I would just nominate Elphaba for the ALS ice bucket challenge and call it a day.
