How is that stupid? Fiyero is supposed to be dark-skinned according to Maguire’s novel, the character of Elphaba goes through racial discrimination before standing up for what she believes in (quite similar to observations of the black experience), and Nessarose is her sister so the two should look at least somewhat similar.

Lol, no dude. It was the way you wrote the sentence. “Played by blacks” sounds bad. I think you meant “…all being played by Black actors.”
Jordan, I’m pretty sure people are reacting negatively to your use of the term “blacks.” More appropriate verbiage would be Black people or actors of color, etc.
EDIT: Oh, degrassifan beat me to it!

How do you know?

Sophia Ann Caruso is by far the strangest name I've seen here so far. Certainly whoever thought of that would have to know that would never work.
That's the purpose of auditions. It's not a bad thing to see people who are a "stretch" for a role on paper. It's helpful to see a diverse array of people before making a decision. A film is also vastly different from a stage production, and Jon Chu may have a different view of these characters than Joe Mantello and the Broadway team.
I'm sure whoever they cast will be able to both sing and act the hell out of it.
Anyway –– feels like this is the most "real" a Wicked movie has ever been, so that's encouraging.

I’m extremely curious about who this Elphaba could be!! Any one have any guesses? Obviously it won’t be Jessie J…
Chloe Bailey or Jai'Len Josey. Dove Cameron or Sabrina Carpenter.

I don’t think Sabrina will be Galinda… in a perfect world, she would be cast as Cady in the Mean Girls movie remake, to compensate for her B’way stint cut short.
Dove Cameron will be Galinda for sure. And I’m so glad Elphaba is being played by a POC - who will it be though???

I think it'll be a Broadway person who gets the role of Glinda

With all the time Chu spends debunking Twitter rumors about this film, it's not hard to see why there have been no casting announcements made yet.

Everyone’s favorite Ayanna Prescod tweeted that she got confirmation on who the Elphaba was, before Jon M Chu replied that they have not cast anyone and she promptly deleted the tweet. Just in case people didn’t know she was a fraud back when she claimed the Chicago returning cast would be so good it would cause the show to sell out in a minute (she actually ended up going to the Wicked opening last night, despite the fact that she tweeted she had gotten tickets to Chicago). This girl is a real life Evan Hansen.

I honestly think this musical will never be made into a movie ….. if they plan to film next year they need to announce a cast soon…

Why do they “need to announce a cast” soon?

Well maybe not soon but by the end of the year at least…..I do remember les mix was cast late fall early winter and started I believe around debt/ March for a release date of December…
I know this musical is on a good amount of people to 10 musicals and have opinions of who should be cast..,

On stage, no problem. On film, um, they’re going in a different direction.

Either Helen or Meryl Streep would be perfect for Morrible.
