Leagirl oh genuis one, the thread he DID start and was completely lambasted in by MANY more as*holes than just yours truly, was DELETED, right about when it was at this length too, so how about that?
I'll cast my vote in for Mandy Moore though - I like her. I think she'd be interesting. Better than Hilary Duff, anyhow.
Ok, I think most people would be better than Hilary Duff.
Now what would you say if today I started over?
Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover
And I'll pretend like everything is already alright
And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight
^OOOH dude, mandy would be awesome!! seriously, shes like the ONE current pop star who seems very nice, humble, not um.. slutty, and she can ACTUALLY sing and act really really well :) good call lea!
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

Doubt it. Doubt you can even look at the situation objectively. And maybe that's the problem here. As you've disclosed, you're her friend. You're also clearly biased, which is understandable. But you write as if what you state is absolute truth, when it's actually just your opinion.
And you cite your friendship as proof of the veracity of your statements, which seems to me to be the cause of the negative feedback you're getting here.
So as was suggested above, post about your friendship or her situation, but do so separately.
THANK GOD Hilary said NO! I think I would stop going to the show if she had taken it on! She's not right for the part at all! I really dislike stunt casting but if they have to do it and aren't going to give it to Tina then I'd say Mandy Moore would be good. I think Brittany Murphy has too much of a rebel in her to play the good girl. I don't know. that's just her image and how I see her. But she does have a nice voice so i'm sure she could do it!
What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block
Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

Does this mean you want Laura replaced? HOW DARE YOU!
Come on. This was just a friendly conversation about who could possibly replace Laura whenever she decides to leave the show. We all love Laura Benanti. No one is attacking.
I was trying to get back on topic. And I think you're just joking and trying to make me smile, but I'm the most gullible human being on earth. You could probably tell me that Queen Elizabeth was standing behind me and I'd turn around to look.
And nah, of course I don't want Laura replaced. But if they do buy her out, I wouldn't mind seeing Brittany Murphy take over the role.

Brittany would be very cute, but mandy would definitely be any better :) actually, I would TOTALLY love to see her do it. And like, she's QUITE a big name so that'd be perfect. It'd bring in the money AND actually mantain the quality of the show. And, if she came while Stephen was still there, I could see them working really well together! like, they seem like they'd make a really cute on-stage couple
I'm still sad about all this talk of laura leaving though I just need to see her ONCE... once is all I ask.. and then I will be okay with letting her go. But, I need to see her do it just once

My vote is Mandy Moore or Anne Hathaway (who would also be a very cute Julia), but - and I don't know if anyone mentioned this - what about Jennifer Love Hewitt? I'm not crazy about her, but she can sing and this score would work with her voice.
I think Jennifer would be very sweet in it, but like Kristen Bell, her tv shooting schedule would make it impossible.

"And for those of you who say those things about me, you might want to take a look at Phantom2. I'm starting to think Phantom IS Tina Maddigan."
iluvtheatertrash- Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me? I'm really supportive of the girl with golden hair because I think she is extremely talented, hence the reason she's Laura's STANDBY. Tina is more than capable of performing the role night after night. She was a lead in Mamma Mia! and has a lot of fans who adore her. You really need to chill. I'm just sayin'...

Show Business is certanily not a fair business at all. Laura's sickness is such bad luck. However, producers want to make money, not put personal interest into a unknown performer. This is so bad because the number of big jobs will be taken from NY based actors and will be given to celebrities.

well i just hope she gets better soon and isnt replaced! she is amazing in TWS and plays her role beautifully! and i really want to see her as julia again! i have to see it before the OBC is broken up!
I hope Laura gets well soon, HOWEVER, people c'mon, her reputation of not showing up COMPLETELY precedes her...in the past 3 broadway shows she's appeared in. Granted, sh*t happens, but, really, get it together... people are coming to see her at a hundred bucks a pop.
this thread got extremely obnoxious but instead of going on a rant about the bull**** people spout out, ill just stay on topic...
drew barrymore is the only person who should ever play julia; too bad she doesnt sing... except she does has a song on her ne films soundtrack..anythings possible...
