"You drank a charm to kill John Proctor's wife! You drank a charm to kill Goody Proctor!" - Betty Parris to Abigail Williams in Arthur Miller's The Crucible
It's a wall sooner or later someones gonna write on it or knock it down.
What does that even mean?!
I'm loving the new marquee with all the old-school bulbs. This is what a Broadway marquee should look like, unlike the eyesores on 44th and 45th. I can't wait to see this baby once she's all lit up!

Well I wrote like 3 things and they were very long and one was kinda sexual lol
As for what does it mean that someones gonna wrote on it sooner or later. It's a wall you can't seriously expect it to be exactly like it is the day they painted it. It will eventually chip or get damaged or pissed on.
It's not like I went to the theather and carved "I LOVE RENT 4 EVER!" Into the wall or something like that. It's a wall you painted it once and you can paint it again and the damage is gone.
The new show owes RENT NOTHING. It's a remnant of the old production that the Nederlander's won't keep, nor should they. My suggestion would be to just take out the wall and move it somewhere, so that Rent fans still have a direction to turn to while doing silent prayer.
Celra, they may paint over the graffiti on the walls, but it's still vandalism to write on them. You can't just write all over a wall because you want to.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
It seems like they're going with an ornate, classic Broadway look with this house. I highly doubt that green will remain in the end. There is really no reason for them to leave it.
Vandalism is vandalism is vandalism. How is taking sharpies and writing all over the front of a public building, a historical building at that, not vandalsim?

Are you actually this stupid, or just playing dumb?
It's a wall you painted it once and you can paint it again and the damage is gone.
So they should just keep paying to paint it over and over and over again every time you and your idiot friends and everyone else who thinks like you decides to write on it?
ANYway.
It seems like they're going with an ornate, classic Broadway look with this house.
It does, and I love it. It's perfect for the upcoming tenant, and I think it's charming.
If I wrote all over the front of your house with Sharpie and said, "Well, just paint over it," I think your family would still press vandalism charges against me!
But back on topic, I LOVE the new theater. From what I could see of the inside, it's going to be stunning!

Once you cross that line, you end up in a nice little place called "the municipial courthouse" where you will be a given a magical little slip of paper with far too many zero's and comma's.
That's not fun, neither is vandalism. At first I thought, "you know what, I'm a renthead too, I guess this user is just more...loud....about it than I am." But now I don't know what to think...
Responding to an earlier question, no I am not the person who posted on 13fans.com, someone must have taken the picture from this thread.
While I miss the old Nederlander, it was appropriate for Rent, it would be ridiculous to have Guys and Dolls in the old theater. And I always support restorations and renovations of historical buildings.
To add something to this thread, I was talking to someone who's been working at the theater, and he believed the remaining green was going to be repainted, although as far as he knew, the "official" wall, in the back of the theater, was not being changed or repainted. Although I suppose that can be worked on later.
Celra, You clearly don't have a sense of right and wrong. Writing on a public building, whatever the situation is is wrong. Your doing a VERY bad job at justifying something that is unjustifiable.
