I just don't get it, either. If anything, you announce something too early (like RENT did) to get people to rush to see it, then pulling a bait and switch. Moving it UP means they don't get the benefit of "It's closing in two weeks, gotta see it now!" Now it only has 5 days notice for people who were procrastinating to rush to see it.
Think about how much Whoopies salary would have drained the bank! There could very well be a connection there
Yeah, it's not even just the show closing moving up that bothers me. It's the public relations department that is in charge of puttig out press releases, and obviously something should have been posted earlier in the day, before people were able to start posting about getting ticket refunds. I mean, it's not always 100% reliable, but there was a deleted post on this before the press releases came out, and that's just wrong because the info was from people getting ticket refunds. They ended up not being wrong, but the info should come out from more reliable sources first.
Thank you.

OK--I have tickets for Sunday and Thursday on stage. I've always wanted to sit on stage--this is forcing me to do it now.
I'm now officially broke.
I'm seriously about to cry. I hate today.
This just screwed up my whole weekend. Luckily, I was able to get a ticket to the new closing night (Row G, Centre Mezzanine)but at the cost of seeing RENT in Movies (which I already payed for) and now can't attend. I'm just happy I can attend this closing night.
I feel so bad for the out of town people who made arrangements to see this.
Don't cry, Parks. Think about how special it'll be to be there.

This officially made my week a whole lot busier, was going to see Xanadu on Oct 3rd, now seeing it this Sunday, plus seeing Wicked on Wednesday night and To Be Or Not To Be on Saturday afternoon.
I just bought tickets for Thursday. I guess its been a while since I've used telecharge but dayum those service fees... they made up 20% of my total expense.

Oh, I can't wait for Sunday--it is going to be CRAZY! but it will be an emotional day for sure. I'm about to cry right now... and I have to go take my first test in my math class in 25 minutes... I really don't think I'll be able to focus.
Who else is going on Sunday?

it'll be really sad if Kerry isn't there for closing I hope she can be there...
I bought tickets for Saturday Matinee so I could see Patti's Kira one more time, so at least I get to see it from the stage once more...
but I went from having Onstage for Closing to having Mezz
It's just really sad they wouldn't let it have it's three weeks...
So as I mentioned in the earlier thread, I have the same seat I had for the original closing of front row mezz.
And I had to get onstage seating one more time. Saw that it was available today, was planning to wait to rush, but then they weren't available, and were only available still for tomorrow's matinee and Thurs evening, and I can't go to either. Then suddenly two more stage seats for tonight popped up, so I grabbed one. Anyone looking to sit on stage one more time better act quickly!
Whaaattt the heck!? This sucks.

I love Xanadu and am also sad it's closing and I understand why it's upsetting for everyone who already bought tickets for the 12th, but JoeKv99, how can you say that some people deserve to be at the closing show more than others? What makes a "real" fan? Some people have seen the show many times, so if they don't get to be at the closing, they should be happy they had the chance to see it those times. I'm not trying to start something, but I had to get that out there.

"Ok, so given the fact that almost all of the stage seats were gone for the performances leading up to Oct 12th--- and, in general, most of the shows leading up to that date had limited seats available, WHY is the show closing early???
The economy???
Real reason, please... "
The FACT? Have you been given access to look at the books and advance sales?
My guess is they posted the closing notice hoping people would flock, they DIDN'T. The show had two REALLY bad weeks as evidenced by the grosses. In probability, the weeks ahead look bleaker, the the decision was made to save future losses as stated.
I know we all love XANADU. And a lot of you are upset, but this is a business. These producers kept this show going in very tough times in the past. They've been pretty gosh darned amazing to the fans considering. If anyone else had been producing this show, they might have thrown in the towel and closed last winter before the Tony's.
And if you have to sit in the mezz, and not on stage, isn't it better just to be there at all? And if you can't be there, yeah thats a bummer. I can't be there. But I'm happy it ran this long, and happy it's getting a national tour. XANADU will live on.

I am so heartbroken. I had On-Stage seats for the 12th and while I was so sad to see Xanadu close, I was happy I would be up there to say goodbye. Now with this last minute switch I not only will not be On-Stage but will not be there this Sunday at all. I will be saying my goodbyes Thursday night.
It is important to celebrate all the great time we have had over the past year, but for now all I feel is sad and betrayed...

I know what you mean. I love the show but don't consider myself a "fanadu" (no offense to the fanadus but I usually don't label myself anything). I had a stage seat for October 12 and someone told me that I don't deserve my stage seat because I'm not a fanadu. I didn't think that was quite fair. I ordered my seat same as anyone else.
Oh God, my friend is going to be so pissed. He got tickets for [TITLE OF SHOW], set for October 17: they close October 12. So he got tickets for XANADU, after hearing he'll be able to sneak in right before the October 12 closing.
I do not want to be the person to explain things...
I just cried. I am devastated. And now, I wont be able to see it again since I had tickets for the first week of October =(
I got a orchestra seat on the matinee on Sat 27th 2:00PM Will Kerry Butler be there?
I know one knows exactly will know but if Many of the performers who went to perform on Broadway on Broadway. Then showed up for the matinee performance the same day. Who can't say Kerry can't do it?

oh brother. This is just so depressing. I had tickets for the 12th, which now will get refunded and I just bought tickets for Sunday Left Orch. Row G to the extreme side, which is fine, I've seen it multiple times, I just want to be there. I pray Kerry's there, I'll be devastated if she's not.
Hope to see all the fanadu's there!
Isn't Kerry's concert in California?
