Thats sad.
This board will now explode with some of the nastiest. most pointless comments ever!
Take it away kids......
I guess they figured Jan/Feb & March would be worse than normal & it would be suicidal to try & fill that huge barn
A shame it did not succeed as it was, to us, quite enjoyable.
They are dropping like flies. We may have something not seen in many years - a glut of empty theaters.
pardon me while i faint with shock
(note the sarcasm)
i do feel bad for 'em though. once they lost mullullay, foster, and and martin it was doomed.

Okay then I'll start, even with Mullullay, Foster, and Martin I thought it was doomed.

I'm surprised it lasted this long.
Oh well, who's excited for Blazing Saddles, playing at the Broadhurst Theatre starting October 2009? Christian Borle, Kelly Ripa and Roger Bart are already signed. Also, a Dracula: Men in Tights musical is in workshop stages. And get psyched for the Producers revival coming in 2010? Hasselhoff, Danza and Christopher Fitzgerald are in talks to star.
Oy!
I think it will be awhile, if ever, before Brooks tries again.

Just a question, has ANY show at the Hilton made back it's original investment?
Sorry to hear it close so soon, so what's... oh right... Spiderman.

Another one bits the dust
But the question is what will be taking all these empty theaters?
So many shows closing on that day. Which one are you going to coolkid?
I kept planning on seeing it NEXT TIME I went to LA, instead seeing Xanadu, ToTC and All My Sons. Now I guess I won't have the chance to. Ah well, I would have liked to see it for the comedy and the spectacle, but I could have lived without it. I have a feeling it's closing because most audiences felt the same way I did.
Think it will tour?
If so, it will be greatly scaled down.
hopefully Avenue Q is next on the hitlist
Yeah, lets start wishing that every remaining show closes while we are at it.
Since you do not like it, it needs to close . I guess all the people who have seen it & liked it over the years are stupid. I guess the Tony committee are idiots for awarding it best musical.

I actually think Kelly Ripa could do very well in the Madeline Khan role(s) in BLAZING SADDLES.
I'm so happy Beth Leavel is going into a new show.

This is a shame. It's a shame that a foolish move, the presumptuous premium pricing, started a snowball of bad sentiment for a show that while not the best, was certainly entertaining and enjoyable. This should have run a lot longer, but what can ya do? Young Frankenstein, you'll be missed.

It is funny that both the NY Times and Playbill.com articles state that The Producers ran much longer than YF. It seems Mel has made a lot of enemies.
His sending advance people into the theater when Pirate Queen was still running there was bad form.
What goes around comes around.
I'm happy for Beth Leavel too...I hope MINSKY'S is a good show (I love Charles Strouse!)
Not that I'll miss this show, but Broadway doesn't need another dark theatre.

Kept thinking about her the other night, while watching Channing (who is pretty good) in "Pal Joey"- Oh, she would have been perfect !!
I wonder what's next for the Hilton Theater? any guess?
