Awwww...don't encourage people to be rational about this. I'm loving all the wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Scott in LA...you're hilarious! You're just feeding off the drama...haha
No NY cast stuff? That is a bunch of bs, I'm sorry. The NY cast was vastly superior to the LA cast (I have both "recordings" so I am not just saying it to say it). Plus a lot of the lyric changes are what was in the LA version of bare.
I got mine today. It actually comes in a DVD case which was slightly off putting, but kinda cool too. I haven't listened to it yet, but I'm sure I'll love it.

I sent a very nice email and received a reply that they are "2-4 days behind in shipments." I don't know what that means, hopefully that my CD will be shipped in 2-4 days. Because I'm getting sick of this waiting thing.

CATSNY,
I was also unhappy about it being in a DVD case. I'm going to have to do some creative stuff to get it into a CD case.

Well, it's no secret that much of the original creative team wasn't happy with how the NY show was handled. That probably has something to do with it.

Spider, did you see the LA cast? A lot of what made them better (IMO) isn't simply the vocals. They acted the hell out of it, and gave fantastic performances. In NYC there was something missing... a raw-feeling that the show inately possesses. It was so over produced, and some of the actors really did overdo it at times. The best thing in the NY show for me was Kaitlin Hopkins, who is fantastic.
I don't think it's fair to judge a performance by a bootleg recording. You can't see what the people are doing.
As for the re-writes, well the show was already a HUGE hit in LA and ran sold out to above capacity (sitting on stiars, fights in the lobby because people couldn't get in!) far longer than anyone dreamed. What they've done now is taken the LA version and added a few things changed for NY (but not all because they didn't particularly like most of the NY re-writes). Most of the lyrics on the CD (including the Ever After lyrics that someone mentioned) reflect the original lyrics. They aren't really re-writes, per say....
And on that note, the "So much for our ever after..." (to me) is preffered. It shows Peter's defeat in the relationship, and his abandonment of hope for it.
No, I haven't seen thte LA cast . . . just audio. Can you please go into detail what they didn't like about the NY version? I'm curious.

It's not my place to give the specifics. But they've made it no big secret how they feel about it.
The one lyric change that sticks out to me -- in a bad way, it really bothers me -- is in You & I. This recording has "take a look in these big blue eyes so you'll understand," as opposed to, "feel the beat of my racing heart so you'll understand." I think the latter flows better, and that it's just a better lyric for the moment. It captures him better right then, I think.
I agree.

Again, a reversion to the LA lyrics.
However, they did keep the "not even for Zack/let's lay off the crack" change, which is far better than what was there in LA.
The CDs are amazing. And the documentary is pure gold. Proof that they weren't just singing from the page with no emotion. I don't agree with that comment at all. Look into their eyes. Look at those faces. Not one person was phoning it in. And they all had such in-depth things to say about their characters. I'm so envious of Matt Doyle and James Snyder. They make everything about their performances look so effortless. I'm jealous.

Just because they look a certain way while singing doesn't mean it comes across on the album. And just because they are emoting, doesn't mean it's the right emotion. Listen to almost every acted line. It's so awkward. The dialogue is terrible on the CD. The singing feels just as bad at points, though I think a lot of times the lyrics are too blame. They may be acting, but that doesn't make it good acting. (there are of course exceptions)
To me the ATA version is still the definitive version. From both a performance standpoint and a lyrical standpoint. The only thing this album brings to the table is the greatest set of orchestrations the show has ever had.
I still haven't had a confirmation and I was told a couple of days ago that it was going out in 24-48 hours.
I wonder if any of the proceeds will benefit the Trevor Project or if that is another lie. It's hard for me to believe anything these people say.
Still no email here either. I was also given the 24-48 hours promise. Maybe they were mailed but they are behind on their shipping emails. Repeating to myself, "The glass is half full. The glass is half full. The glass is half full."
I'm sure the promised part of the proceeds will go to the Trevor Project. I think they really mean well. They were completely unprepared.
Has anybody received their CD without getting a confirmation? That's what I've been wondering all along. I keep thinking I might get the CD without getting the confirmation but I'm not sure on that.

I got shipping confirmation and tracking info this morning. I'm still a little in shock. i will certainly post my thoughts on the CD and DVD as soon as it arrives. And if it is closer to the LA production, which it sounds like it is, thats fine with me. I like the LA version a little more anyways.

Woo, guess what just got delivered to me.
I respectfully disagree Cages, I see where you're coming from, and I hear it in the scene between Jason and Nadia, but I don't hear any awkwardness in the majority of the line delivery. For that I would point to Spring Awakening... that's awkward. And, I don't feel like they're emoting the wrong emotions. I do agree that sometimes the lyrics are at fault at a few moments, but for the most part I feel like it comes across just fine on CD especially considering the fact that a lot of the time they were singing to each other in confinement as the DVD shows.
