Finally, a performance that made me interested in the show. The cast is perfect! I can't wait for a cast recording.
aaaaaargh, I missed it!
What did they do? I had to leave for work before it came on.

yuck. fine for a benefit concert to raise money for the moveon.org but no sense of theatricality AT ALL.

That is ok. Theatre is evolving. As long as you are entertained...

Terrence Mann had an interesting little solo before Give Peace a Chance

I loved it. woke up to it, actually. yay Lennon!
Excellent! Terrence Mann is why we went to go see the play!
I didn't even recognize Terrance at first!

I wasn't. They all have fantastic voices, but as jerseygurl said, it was something for a benefit concert. I didn't see that as part of an actual show.
i was expecting myself not to like it because of my dislike for other shows, mama mia, all shook up, good vibrations, etc., but actually it was kind of entertaining.

Thanks Rush. But what does Moveon.org have to do with "Lennon"? Your agenda is showing. Please take two Oxycontin and call your lawyer in the morning.
And Dancingthrulife04, anyone who doesn't see John Lennon's music as part of his story -- I just don't know what to say -- what do you expect in a biographical musical about John Lennon?
Anyone who saw the cast of "Lennon" on "Today" this morning understands now what people here have been trying to tell you all along. For the rest of you, please drop the political agenda and give this show the credit it deserves. This is a fantastic production that I've recommended to friends and acquaintances and every one of them has loved "Lennon" and thanked me. Take my advice, see "Lennon" and enjoy a moving, powerful, wonderful night of theater. You'll love it and you'll thank me too.
Mabel, Tmz814, the cast and band did a medley of four songs from "Lennon" this morning; "Imagine," "Mind Games," "Instant Karma," and ending with their inspiring rendition of "Give Peace a Chance". They performed the medley in concert style sprinkled with the most amazing solos and all wearing "New York City" T-shirt.
They sounded positively awesome.

Well...I saw it, if this was the best they had to offer (yes, they sounded wonderful)...god help the state of new musicals on Bway.

LaCageAuxFollesFan2, I don't understand you're point. They sounded wonderful doing a medley of "Lennon" songs in concert style on the "Today Show" but you're worried about the state of B/way musicals???
If they sound wonderful why are you worried? One would think you'd be worried if they sounded awful, not wonderful. IMO, your reaction is contradictory.
Did my gal Julia sing? Because then I'd be REALLY sad that I slept through it.
And really, slacker, think about it. It's possible to like something, even if it's not great for the state of the integrity of the art. Having good singers doesn't make the show a good thing for the state of musical theatre - and perhaps even though the principal isn't great, this show is fine. I haven't seen the show, and I fully intend to within the next week or so, so I really don't need you to talk at me about it. I'm willing to give it far more of a chance, and think it has far more integrity than a "true" jukebox show, so you can save your speech.
I felt that it was not a true representation of the show. It did not make me want to go see it at all. It was a presented as a concert not as a show. I think that was a bad marketing desiccation. If all I knew of the show was what I saw today, I would think that it is several people who just give a concert of Lennon's songs. Now, I am even less interested in this show than I was before.
PS: I too was surprised that Terry dyed his hair. He's been keeping it grey for so long.

Maybe they staged it that way because the show is being completely overhauled. They may not know how the songs will be presented.

LuvthEmcee, how can you judge what's good for the state of theater from a ten minute concert style presentation of a four tune medley on the "Today Show"?
WonderBoy, what did you expect them to do? A full production of "Lennon" in a ten minute "Today Show Concert Series" segment?
Hey, I didn't see it, and I didn't say I was judging based on this - I can't judge on a performance I didn't see, so don't tell me I am. You know exactly what I'm saying - you're not that stupid, and neither am I. Everyone knows what type of show this is, and it's one that there appears to be a somewhat general consensual agreement on, even if some such shows do happen to be quite entertaining. Stop spinning yourself around in circles and playing dumb.
Terry dyed his hair? It was grey when we saw Lennon last week!
