What the hell did I just watch?! That was absolutely horrific. The division responsible for developing the live shows for theme parks should be ashamed and embarrassed. So bad.
These pictures look great, thank you MadAboutTheBoy. While the trolls and Olaf looks realyl good, I really hate Anna and Elsa's outfits in this picture; assuming it's the coronation scene. The beading is just painful, and that golden lace went out of fashion over a century ago. Maybe (hopefully) it's not too noticeable from the audience?

Keep in mind that the Disney Creative Entertainment has gotten huge budget cuts because of Shanghai Disneyland, so it may not be as big as they wanted to be.

I'm excited about this because an old theatre friend of mine from college is Young Elsa in the video montage!!!!
hm i must be going crazy cause i actually thought that clip was kind of good. Not broadway-calibre singing for sure but it looks like it might be fun for DisneyLand.

"Agreed. Not quite Broadway Idina Menzel standard singing but very much theme park standard singing.
Ok, hate the new Frozen Disneyland musical all you want, but the staging and direction of Let It Go is surpeb. I have a feeling we may get this for Broadway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjK-yWne5mM
Fyi, this production was directed by Liesl Tommy, of ECLIPSED.
When she walks up the stair case it's extremely reminiscent of Defying Gravity. A few questions, are their no rules about photography at Disney theme park shows? Cuz I saw way too many cameras in that vid. Also do those theme park shows usually have the same creative team as Broadway or at least associates? Because of not we might just see a completely different staging.
I don't think the Lopez's were directly involved in this, since they were busy with the Broadway version. Totally different creative team for this

As impressed as I was by the staging, I think that's a bit of an insult to "Defying Gravity," LOL.

Filming and photography is allowed for the theme park shows. Creative teams will be different people AFAIK.

The whole show is up. It's not as good as Aladdin, but it is fabulous!

It's cute for a theme park show, for sure. The Let It Go staging works for that space. The Olaf puppet is adorable.
The Broadway version is obviously going to aim for something bigger. It also, at most, needs to run two times in one day, rather than a theme park show that runs a whole lot more than that. I could see them going in that direction for Let It Go, but Elsa's choreography will have more actual set pieces pop up from the stage and fly in.
Love is an Open Door as a reprise/finale makes sense, just because it offers that happily ever after moment for the characters. It's catchy, too.
Just put that on Broadway with some new songs. It looks fine.

I'm with Liza on this one--hideous.
Don't want any comments about bad theatre behaviour when this hits Broadway--it will be 2 hours of sing-along with Elsa, screaming girls and multiple slurping of frozen coloured cocktails[we all wish !].

Except for the fact this is at Disneyland (Disney's California Adventure, to be exact). If the locals aren't impressed, it won't last long.

Inside the Magic uploaded the entire show on YouTube. It looks good. But I do have some misgivings about it. The Troll costumes are cute but scary, the actress playing Anna doesn't every note perfectly, same with Elsa however when Elsa started singing the phrase "Let it Go. Let it Go. Can't hold it back anymore" she doesn't hold the "go" for very long which I think is more human then belting it out. I do love the effect when Anna freezes at the end, I know how they do it, they use I think lights hidden within her costume. I'm also glad they gave the mother to Anna and Elsa more dialogue in the beginning. In the film she had one line but that's it. And the parents also appear in the end as spirits who are proud of Elsa which I felt was kinda like "Les Miserables" where the spirits of Fantine and Eponine come back.
Are there lights hidden in her costume? It looked like it was just projected onto her costume. That's why the dress is all white.

This video will explain it better than I can.
Yeah. It sounds like the LED diodes are used so that a computer can track her movement on stage and match the projected image up perfectly with her dress for every performance. The LEDs in the dress are not projecting the image themselves that doesn't make sense.
I think it looks good, for a theme park show. They're never Broadway quality, and it looks better than the Aladdin show. This will last a long time.
The lighting and effects in "Let It Go" are stunning. Impressive quick change as well. It's kinda hard to see in the full video from a distance, but here is another one that has a really good and clear close up of the change. The Elsa here just has this fantastic expression on her face afterwards that just screams "NAILED IT!" https://youtu.be/wTpGxE2Soiw?t=49s
The effect of ice Anna is very well done as well, though she has to wear that kinda awkward white outfit for the mapping effect to work.
It is amazing how the cast in this makes a HUGE difference. The first video I saw earlier today was of an alternate cast then the one in the Inside the Magic video with different Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Hans (only overlapping performer was Kristoff) and I was severely unimpressed by the show. However upon seeing the cast from the Inside the magic footage, it's really like watching a whole other show! Especially the Anna. They really sell the show to me!
I actually really loved a lot of their staging ideas. Some of them were a bit awkward, but for the most part it made me really happy to see how they brought some of those scenes to life.
