Over the years I have seen 4 productions of it - Lansbury, Daly, Peters &  Lupone. I am all Gypsied out. Like one other posted it is a tad soon for another revival. Amen. Hell if it could not succeed with Lupone and/or Peters, how will it do with her who is absolutely unknown in this country? She may be great but when do you go to the well once to often. If there are those who want to see it every other year with a new actress great. Four times is more than enough.

I know this is a show on the approved list of revivals but even so 7 years ago?

I agree with Mr. Roxy.  It is too soon for another revival of Gypsy.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I know it's awfully soon for a revival, but I really want to see Imelda on stage and haven't had the resources to travel to London for any of her past outings. I'm praying this'll happen.

I think it could work if they get a very big name for Louise. There is no way Imelda could sell yet another Gypsy revival here on her own. They will certainly need a name like Katy Perry for Louise, who would actually be a stunning Gypsy, but who knows if she could act it or want to do it.

"'We are actively pursuing and trying to work out the right way to go to New York with Imelda in Gypsy,' said Michael Harrison, who produced the show...

I'm sure they're aware of all the previous productions and possible audience fatigue - maybe they're looking at a limited run in a smaller space?

A limited run in a city with a subscriber base like Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, DC could be smart. Or just a minimalist concert mounting in NY for a couple of weeks. I feel like it will be a while before we get a Gypsy revival otherwise - like, Audra in 10 years or so.

I sort of hope this doesn't happen. I'm trying hold out hope for Barbra's Gypsy.

BAM is my bet as well. It seems that Staunton is not of a mind to make a long term commitment.

I would pay alot of money to see this. I love fine acting. Imelda is an excellent oscar nominated actress.

Nothing against Imelda, but every time a good actress takes on the role of Rose, it's back on Broadway?

I guess that's the law. A "too soon" revival of Gypsy every five years. Guys & Dolls and Music Man every ten.

London doesn't complain when Hamlet or King Lear are revived almost annually.  Like the Shakespeare plays, the great Miller, Williams, O'Neill plays and classic musicals like Gypsy and Fiddler are our dramatic heritage.  If an actor or director wants to take them on and it adds to the material's rich history or is appreciated by audiences anew, what's the harm? There's enough new work to keep most of us occupied.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
