David Rooney, Hollywood Reporter. Another rave for Mueller, positives for the score as well. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/sara-bareilles-waitress-theater-review-887182
Marilyn Stasio, Variety. Mixed but more love for Mueller: http://variety.com/2016/legit/reviews/waitress-review-broadway-musical-1201759570/
Based on the way these reviews are going, at the very minimum, we are looking at certain Tony nods for Mueller (Best Actress/Musical) and Bareilles (Best Original Score)

Starting to wonder if she is a favorite to win it again.

Talkin' Broadway should be renamed "Sh*t Talkin' Broadway."
Someone stop this idiot.

I obviously loved the show and recognize it has flaws ... But that review seriously sounded like someone with a personal vendetta.

ALL of his reviews sound like someone with a personal vendetta, to be honest. The guy is a sore prick.

Love this quote from Peter Marks:
"There comes a point in many of the composer’s songs that the melody gains momentum and a note has to be sung as if it’s being shot out of a cannon. Mueller has the requisite artillery. It occurs to an audience member while watching and listening to Mueller that the long search for the star of a Broadway revival of “Funny Girl” could perhaps be over."

OHMIGHOD YAAAAAAASSSSS

Steven Susskin, Huffington Post: Very positive. Lots of love for Mueller and Christopher Fitzgerald as well as this great quote:
"The key statement is not that Waitress is a musical from a team of women, but that Waitress is a good musical from a creative team who happen to be women."

I read this review and wondered what show this guy actually saw? All of the things he disliked, I loved. As soon as he wrote the line "Jessie Mueller is miscast". I printed out the review to use to line the bottom of my birdcage tomorrow.

Yup. That removed any and all credibility.

Both say good things about Mueller and the score, but they both agree that the show can be too campy at times.
Charles Isherwood has weighed in...

Mixed ... seems like he enjoyed the performances more than the material. Again lots of love for Mueller and Fitzgerald.
"Ms. Mueller’s vibrant performance of this gentle but wrenching song, featuring a melody that soars and then recedes in waves, is the high point of the show — and for that matter a high point of the Broadway season. Suddenly, a pleasant and polished but weightless musical comedy rises to transporting heights, and sweeps up your heart along with it."
No leading actress this season is a favorite to win. There's a three way race between Erivo-Mueller-Benanti.
Looks like some critics did an American Psycho on it.

I beg to differ.

So it seems before this weekend, the NYT gave Critics' Picks to every show, including Disaster! and Bright Star, which, while good shows, are not superior to American Psycho and Waitress, neither of which received Critics' Picks. Don't get stingy on us now NYT!

Was Lord Brantley to bust to do the review himself?
I've seen Benanti, Cusack, Erivo, Mueller and Soo and the only thing I know for certain is how fortunate we are to have these highly talented women and beautiful performances in one season. I do also think that allows me to have an informed opinion and I think it will be a race between Erivo and Mueller, both of whom are stunning in their roles.
I do think Mueller is going to benefit from a stronger Tony "campaign" and from riding the wave of the show's early success, generally warm reception and the fabulous reviews she is getting. Waitress' PR, social and marketing teams are also working hard to keep Mueller and the show in the forefront.
