TMM.... and Assassins. They are so different, they cant be rated on the same scale.
My favorite overall is Miss Saigon...Chicago close second. Oh and ChiChi, I don't know what Bare is either. *hides in shame

Geez, I can't do this!
Uhhh, I'm gonna have to say Phantom for one (dont shoot!). It was the first musical I ever saw professionally and, well, I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't seen it. I've been a phan for so many years (although, of course, it extends way beyond just the musical. The books, the phanphics, everything). So, yeah... Go Phantom.
Assassins def.
I've got way too many in my head right now.
Into the Woods
I have three... RENT, Sweeney Todd, and Les Miserables. Not in that order though, I love them all the same!
I hate these questions! It's like picking a favorite child!
Hmmm...either Lippa's The Wild Party or West Side Story.
I've never seen a show that captured the spirit if American Musical Theatre like STARLIGHT EXPRESS. Every song was brilliant and the book was just on another level it was so amazing. If I had one wish, I would wish I could go back in time and see the original cast again.
Matt - you just made my day. I had a friend who worked in the theatre for the London production of Starlight Express. To this day she gets queasy around roller skates... She thinks her experience there for 6months may have caused her permanent brain damage.
I'd have to say SWEENEY TODD is my favorite. CATS will always be special because I was six years old and it was my fist (and you never forget your first). But, TITANIC, JEKYLL & HYDE, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, ASSASSINS, RENT, SUNSET BOULEVARD, and SCARLET PIMPERNEL all get honorable mentions...
And STARLIGHT EXPRESS is CATS on wheels, so sure I enjoy it, but it's always last on the list... and it's a VERY long list... lol.

RENT, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, WILD PARTY (LIPPA), BARE SAMPLER CD, LES MISERABLES CONCERT VERSION, and so on and so forth
nine, chicago, and how to succeed
"Ragtime" or "Caroline or Change"
Les Miserables and Rent
In reference to Sweeney Todd:
"and has some pretty good music..."
Understatement of the century. Or at least the 25 years since it was written. Sweeney is Sondheim's operatic masterpiece. Anyone who is not familiar, please purchase either recordings or DVD's. It may not be for everyone, but it should be.
This is easy. Wicked included, my favorite musical is Into The Woods.
Ragtime, Carousel, Hairspray
hmmmmmm... ive always turned back to les miz, because- at the end of the day (cue laugh track)- it was the show that made me love the theater, it wasn't my first (though i believe it was my second) but it holds a place in my heart that no other show will ever replace.
runners up: rent, caroline, into the woods, cabaret, aida
I have to pick ONE???
Uhh....I pick The Producers.
This is hard. My favorite post-1985 musicals-Rent and Les Mis. My favorite pre-1985 musicals-My Fair Lady, Chicago, A Chorus Line
I forgot Thoroughly Modern Millie and Assassins.
