I feel like it's reasonable to assume that could be on the table just because reviving this play in New York is just, you know, sort of a big deal. (Is he really THAT huge of of a star, though? I just think of him as "that dude from the Star Trek movie.")
Playbill also posted news today that he may play Gershwin in a biopic.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Heroes hasn't had "big ratings" for years, and the genre fans still clinging on probably aren't the type to rush to NYC and see him in a play about gay people with AIDS.

I was a huge Heroes fan before it started sucking. But Zachary Quinto in it is still wonderful. I'd love to see him on stage. And I'd love to see this show in New York.....
SIgnature's kinda committed to its affordable theater for the masses philosophy and they have a HUGE grant to make the Kushner season happen and Angels was already on Broadway and though beloved and a critical darling it didn't make money hand over fist so I hope they stick to their plans.
PLEASE LET IT HAPPEN!! Just to let you know, if Quinto is in this revival, you will see a chunky white boy do a dive onto the stage. I'm warning ya now!

Star casting or not, the point is to do it at the Peter Norton Space, Signature's current home, with the subsidized $20 ticket price and not to suddenly set sights on moving it to Broadway. Kushner is a big fan of Signature and wants to see Angels in a small space, where it will probably be an overwhelming experience.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
This is very exciting news if it pans out. Zach has a pretty impressive theatrical resume and studied theatre at Carnegie Mellon. Not sure if the Star Trek fans will follow, but I'm sure many people will be pleasantly surprised to see him on stage. He is VERY talented.
