I am new to the site here, but I have seen every show this season (yes, EVERY show), and everyone seems to be into posting "predictions" and I thought it would be fun to post my personal VOTES - as if I were a Tony voter, and could choose anything I want. There are some categories that, as a musician by profession, I feel like I know how to vote on more than the average voter (particularly Orchestration and Sound Design). Here is what my ballot would look like when I sent it in:

PLAY:
The Mother****er with the Hat

MUSICAL:
The Scottsboro Boys

BOOK OF A MUSICAL:
The Book of Mormon (Trey Parker and Matt Stone)

ORIGINAL SCORE:
The Scottsboro Boys (John Kander and Fred Ebb)

REVIVAL OF A PLAY:
The Importance of Being Earnest

REVIVAL OF A MUSICAL:
Anything Goes

LEAD ACTOR, PLAY:
Bobby Cannavale (Mother****er with the Hat)

LEAD ACTRESS, PLAY:
Frances McDormand (Good People)

LEAD ACTOR, MUSICAL:
Joshua Henry (The Scottsboro Boys)

LEAD ACTRESS, MUSICAL:
Beth Leavel (Baby It's You)

FEATURED ACTOR, PLAY:
Billy Crudup (Arcadia)

FEATURED ACTRESS, PLAY:
Elizabeth Rodriguez (Mother****er with the Hat)

FEATURED ACTOR, MUSICAL:
Forrest McClendon (The Scottsboro Boys)

FEATURED ACTRESS, MUSICAL:
Victoria Clark (Sister Act)

DIRECTION, PLAY:
Anna D. Shapiro (Mother****er with the Hat)

DIRECTION, MUSICAL:
Casey Nicholaw and Trey Parker (Book of Mormon)

CHOREOGRAPHY:
Susan Stroman (The Scottsboro Boys)

ORCHESTRATIONS:
Larry Hochman (The Scottsboro Boys)

SCENIC DESIGN, PLAY:

SCENIC DESIGN, MUSICAL:

LIGHTING DESIGN, PLAY:

LIGHTING DESIGN, MUSICAL:

SOUND DESIGN, MUSICAL:
Peter Hylenski (The Scottsboro Boys)

Beth Leavel for "Baby It's You"? Really?!?

Well, to each his own I guess.

Yeah, actually the leading Actress was a tough call because, in my opinion, NONE of the four nominees give a Tony-worthy performance. But the most professional, 100% positive performance is Leavel. Foster seems bored, Miller is very green and it shows, and Murphy is very manufactured.

I agree, it has definitely been a lean year in the Best Actress category. Even though I think Sutton has the best shot at winning, I don't think she was particularly stunning in Anything Goes. Don't get me wrong, she does a great job singing and dancing, but I can't help feeling that's she's just miscast as Reno. And I'm a big fan of Foster's, I just don't think she was right for this part.

Yeah well Sutton may not be stunning, Patina may be a bit green, Murphy may not be in a great part but Leavel was AWFUL. I mean, she was AWFUL. It's one of the worst performances by an actress in years and the fact she got a nomination for it is an embarrassment.

I guess Beth Leavel refused a request from you to hang out in her dressing room, right Jordan?

This is BETH LEAVEL we're talking about -- a fine musical comedy actress that has more than proven her leading lady status.

Is she giving a Tony-worthy performance? Perhaps not, but AWFUL she ain't! An excellent vocalist and comedic actress.

I love Beth Leavel. I endured the hell that was ELF because of her. But yes, in this show she is terrible. It's not all her fault, she has absolutely nothing to work with in terms of character/a good book etc. and it's embarrassing to watch her up on that stage. I want to go up there, wrap her in a blanket and sneak her out.

Her performance in Drowsy was one of the best I have ever seen on a stage. She's wonderful. But when Baby, It's You was announced, I honestly just felt sad for her. I knew it wasn't going to end well. This reminds me, though: she needs another good role soon.

I realize this is a small sampling of what we would vote; but does anyone think 'Good People' could possibly beat the others for Best Play?? The other 3 plays seem to be splitting the vote and many are voting for GP.

Personally think it would be a nice recognition of honoring quality if the voters did reward GP with the best play Tony.

I feel like since good people only received 1 other nomination it doesn't really have that much of a shot, but I too am surprised about all of the love for the production.
