"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
This just made me a little more interested in the project. (But just a little.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Stephanie J. Block played Elphaba in every workshop and reading of Wicked, but when the Pre-Broadway production came to fruition, they wanted to bring in a star. Cut to Idina Menzel.
Playing a role in every reading means NOTHING. We will only see when there is an official announcement.
"Stephanie J. Block played Elphaba in every workshop and reading of Wicked,"
This is untrue. Menzel was in a workshop, I saw one!
"when the Pre-Broadway production came to fruition, they wanted to bring in a star. Cut to Idina Menzel. "
The word I heard was they were looking for someone with more experience. Menzel wasn't exactly a "star." Hell she played Aida just before she took Wicked and nobody was busting down doors to see here.
"This is untrue. Menzel was in a workshop, I saw one!" My B.
"The word I heard was they were looking for someone with more experience. Menzel wasn't exactly a "star." Hell she played Aida just before she took Wicked and nobody was busting down doors to see here." Would you, as a producer, want a complete unknown to headline your multi-million-dollar new musical, or an established Tony nominee with *some* name recognition?
ETA: I really do hope that it is Karl who plays the lead role in this new musical, but if they don't get him then I hope they get someone as equally talented. Updated On: 7/22/13 at 10:43 PM
