Hey Guys, I'm going to nyc to see some shows at the end of may.For Cabaret how is rear mezzanine row NN on the side. Are these seats really bad to the point that its not worth going to Cabaret?
Karatekid1, I have sat in Row NN and had a seat there for Cabaret for June. If you are tall, the leg space is horrible, but it is full view. When I purchased my ticket, Row NN was the only one affordable, to me. However, since I bought my ticket, they released the last row of the orchestra for $82. It has a bar railing and states obstructed view. According to the rep this morning, it is a bar railing that comes across the chest area. I am 6'3 so I didn't think that would affect me. For $35 it was worth it to me, to upgrade, than sit upstairs cramped. Unless you are short, I believe this ticket option gives more value for your money than row NN. ( Note: They did state they normally don't do this. But I didn't think they would turn down extra money.)
Any chance you noticed what the view might be like from the bar rails along the sides of the orchestra? How much of the action happens on the second level (which, I think, anyone sitting there would miss)?
The band/orchestra is on the 2nd level so it isn't used for any scenes. Sally makes her appearance on there during the opening "Wilkommen" and the Emcee closes Act 1 on there, too. The side spiral staircases are used a handful of times (Sally begins "Mein Herr" at the top of the stairs and moves to the main thrust stage), but the show is basically performed entirely on the main thrust stage in a semi-in-the-round staging.
Also, small finger food options and drinks are served at the orchestra tables before and during intermission. No waiter service during the performance. If you placed your order right before the show starts, your order will be served to you during intermission. If you want to drink and nosh during the performance, arrive EARLY! Also, to create the "cabaret" atmosphere prior to the performance, the Kit Kat girls (and boys) mozy around the thrust stage and even interact with members of the audience. Many of the actresses who played Sally back during the show's original run at Studio 54 used to do their stretching exercises downstage in full view of the audience. I would assume this was also to let them get comfortable with the audience before the performance as they will be performing literally 3 feet (or closer) to some of the orchestra table patrons. It IS this intimate staging that made this revival unique and quite an experience.
Oasisjeff, that is exactly where I sat when I took my Dad to see the show during the last revival. He got into the fact he could interact with the ensemble during the pre-show warm up.
Those Blocked: SueStorm. N2N Nate. Good riddence to stupid! Rad-Z, shill begone!
Karatekid, I sat in rear mezz row MM seat 1 last night and I had a perfect view. I was on the aisle so I had legroom, but the tall guy next to me was pretty cramped. Nothing is obstructed, though.
Two of my friends sat in row NN all the way on the right side in Access 10 seats. They said it was freezing up there! They would have preferred to be closer to the action, but for the price they weren't complaining. I was in row HH in the center. The view was fine. We had the $54 promotional tickets. If I had my druthers, though, I think the front mezzanine would be perfect. The seats are separated there with narrow tables with the red lamps, so you can drink and snack there. I think Cabaret is the type of show best experienced up close.
Sat in Row JJ tonight all the way to the right, through Access10. Great view of everything, no obstuctions just uncomfortable. I had no leg room and found myself sometimes be distracted by how uncomfortably I was squished, but I saw everything fine.
I am trying to buy tickets for the Sunday Matinee (Apr 6). Their website offers only last row orchestra (which says it's obstructed). There are some tables available only to subscribers. Here are my questions: just HOW obstructed is the view from those last row orch seats? Is it just that you can't see the top of the stage? My other question is how likely is it that they may release those 6 unsold tables for purchase by the general public? It's only a week away, so I suppose most subscribers would have already bought them by now.
I need to make a decision soon: give up, buy the obstructed view or gamble and hope the tables will be released. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. In return, I promise to post how the view was from my seats, etc. Thanks!
The meat is always leaner on somebody else's dinner plate!
If you don't have tickets purchased yet, and are willing to roll the dice a bit. Roundabout has a huge subscriber list, all of whom can decide to change their plans and go later in the run. So, a day or so before you want to go, there may be much better seats available online... (unless you need a cheaper ticket, as the subscribers are more likely to be full price tickets closer to the stage).
So, a lot of odds and ends can be released beyond the tables you see today. I'd keep checking back for those. But, if there is a financial element here, and the last few rows are cheaper, then lock it in.
Orchestra tables seem to be opening up on a daily basis. I got an amazing Orch Table two nights before the performance. If you "LIKE" Cabaret on FB they post when tables open up as well.

Sightlines are fine from upstairs but they need new seats and the theater could be gorgeous if it were refurbished. The proscenium is a mess and they need to get rid of the Studio 54 leopard carpeting.
Clyde-they were the $162 seats. I dont think 54 has Premuim Seating. They sold the first table in the front of the stage for $162 a seat to the woman in front of me.
