Tony Yazbeck just got his caricature - is it wishful thinking on my part, or is this one actually not too bad? (Sorry, I can't seem to insert a picture, so I'll give the link.)
One of my favorite posts from Tumblr, in reaction to the Pippin cast's caricatures was "Sardi's couldn't send an intern around the corner to staples to buy a brown crayon?"
In walking around the restaurant, it's obvious that the old caricatures are fabulous. Truly works of art. Especially the very old ones from the 30s and 40s.

It is better but still bad. The proportions are off and his eyes are positioned weirdly. I see Max von Essen + Brian d'Arcy James.
I think Kelli's might be based on her headshot. I feel like I've seen that pose before. It's truly awful though if he drew it based on a still photo and it's still that inaccurate.
Now most of these performers are gorgeous. I wouldn't even call them "character" actors in a slightly disparaging way. But instead of playing up what makes them unique, these caricatures flatten them out into generic looking vaguely attractive people. Honestly, walk a few blocks out from Sardi's and the caricaturists in Times Square could probably do a better job.
no you're right, but considering they have been trying to get them to look accurate, and have been making them unrecognizable recently, i don't think this is that bad
At this point the pictures aren't caricatures or even just nice portraits. It's amateur fan art. They need to hire someone who does caricatures at theme parks or on downtown strips. Those are true to the style.
