Producers Vivek J. Tiwary, Arvind Ethan David and Eva Price are thrilled to announce that the 15-time Tony Award-nominated and Grammy Award-winning Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill will reopen on Broadway on Thursday, October 21, 2021, ending a nineteen-month suspension of performances due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tickets to the “electrifying, visceral and stunning” musical (The Hollywood Reporter) – inspired by seven-time Grammy Award winner Alanis Morissette’s seminal album of the same name – are on sale now at Telecharge.com.
Curious who will be replacing Elizabeth Stanley. I’m still holding out hope it’ll be Alanis for a couple months.

Is Elizabeth not returning? Sorry, hadn't been keeping track of that.
1) I don't think it's official just yet. Tickets may be on sale but a reopening date has not been announced (no sources, social media accounts, etc.).
2) That first link does not work.
3) I would pay good money to see the "Smiling," "Forgiven," and "Uninvited" sequences alone if Alanis is stunt cast as MJ.
4) Fiddle, Elizabeth is pregnant and odds are she won't be reopening JLP when the time comes.

Thanks, Jordan. The link was working a bit ago. But here's what you were referring to (tickets being available). https://jaggedlittlepill.com/tickets/

She announced last month that she’s pregnant.

Oh, how wonderful! Wishing her all the best. She was my favorite part of Jagged Little Pill.
The link is dead because the reopening announcement is under embargo until tomorrow morning. But yes, the official announcement will be made tomorrow.
I'm sure the seven people on Twitter who want Lauren Patten's head on a pike will be very vocal...
Alanis is planning on touring this Summer/Fall, so that's not happening. Not yet at least. They could bring in a temporary replacement until Stanley returns and then maybe bring in Alanis next Summer.
Wait, why are people assuming Stanley is not coming back? Her post in early April showed a pretty large belly bump, which suggests she’s probably due in the next couple of months, which would still give her a couple of months of being an at home mom before the show opens...

Fair point. I hadn't seen a picture, so I have no clue how far along she is. If she is in the show sooner than expected, good for her. If not, I hope she takes all the time she can as a new mama! Hoping it's a fairly easy process for her with good health for both mom and new baby!
Now it's official: Jagged Little Pill will return to B'way on October 21.
"Stars in the House" aired a Jagged Little Pill encore tonight, and Stanley mentioned that somebody else has been hired to play Mary Jane for a limited time starting on reopening night; she also said she would be back in the show soon after because of her pregnancy.
Any guesses folks? Alanis herself will be touring in Europe come late October, so I guess that's off the table.

I have my money on Sherie René Scott. She hasn’t been in a musical in a while, fits the age, and…I kept confusing Elizabeth Stanley with her while I was watching the show
Who knows, but I'm thinking whenever Stanley returns, it could be for just 6 months and then Alanis does the show for a short engagement next year.

Sherie would be soooo good in this.

YES! This would be fantastic casting
I don’t think Sherie is the type to “fill in” while waiting for an original cast member to return from maternity leave. I could be wrong she seems the type who likes to originate roles and produce her own work.

I agree but I do wonder as people age, opportunities dry up etc. are they more likely to take what they can get? (See Bernadette in Night Music or Dolly, though recognise they were slightly more prestigious than temporarily ‘filling in&rsquo.
Sherie would be amazing. And who knows - maybe she’s wanting to get back onstage after this past year. It’s been 5 years since she’s been on Broadway and 10 years since she was in a musical so maybe this is the type of gig that she’d be looking for right now.

I can see where you’re coming from.
If it’s not Sherie, I can see Amy Spanger or Kendra Kassebaum doing it.
There is another possibility, i suppose. A way to really stand out from the crowd and ramp up what I’m sure would be lackluster sales for a while - Idina. She did the workshops and is familiar with the material and a short stint with a ton of publicity is the kind of thing i could see her doing right now.
Lots of folks could do it, Heidi Blickenstaff has been on my mind.

Heidi would be amazing!
Also, Kendra Kassebaum lives in Seattle now with her family. Though if it's just for 3 months, she might agree to it.

Idina’s salary would eat up any box office gusto. She’s not going to do it for scale. If the producers just want publicity, then great. If they want to make a little money casting a name isn’t going to help them. Even a Sherie Rene Scott will be expensive. She’s not desperate for work. Alanis might be the only person to do it on the cheap because it’s her show and she’d want to help them out.
Im guessing they throw in the understudy to keep the show cheap until Stanley comes back.
