Ain't Too Proud is coming back to Toronto? It was here in 2018 and sold reasonably well, but wasn't a smash hit, to my recollection.

I miss the old January announcements. I hope they announce soon, like this week.

AEA is threatening a strike for national tours. April 12 may be the last day before a strike is called.  (We don't have tickets for any tour until August)

I have tickets for Into the Woods in Philly April 9th. Hopefully AEA is able to get their members what they are asking for. If not - grateful my tickets are before the 12th! Yikes.

I'm confused about Mean Girls, as the tour is ending in May. Is Hershey like a special delayed engagement? Or a non-eq tour starting?

The Boch Center in Boston has announced its own mini-series of touring shows.  Unlike Broadway in Boston’s usual two-week runs (at a minimum) for subscription shows, these are a week or less:

Nov 24-26: Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer

Mar 15-17: The Cher Show

Apr 23-28: Hadestown

Surprised to see Hadestown back in the city so soon, especially because Worcester just finished its own run of it.

Yeah that’s a great lineup. I’d take that any day but I fear the Broadway across Canada lineup for Vancouver is gonna be Hadestown and then a couple non equity shows that they market as direct from Broadway. Got an email last week saying they will be announcing the lineup on April 24. Not sure why it’s a week later than Calgary and Edmonton but it will be nice to know the lineup.

it seems silly to make Vancouver wait, when it will only probably be 1 extra show over Edmonton and Calgary. I expect the season to be the same apart from that.

Is The Cher Show a SETA tour or non-equity? Seeing a lot of split weeks.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Non-equity, produced by Big League Productions, potentially non-replica staging, though I've heard using the original Bob Mackie wardrobe plot.

Edmonton and Calgary just announced their seasons:

Hadestown

Hairspray

Mean Girls

Im guessing Mean girls and Hairspray will be non-eq and Hadestown Equity. Curious what will be different in Vancouver

I've given up on that organization.  Seriously,  Hairspray???

I did get a cheap seat this season to see Fiddler, & it was fine.

I'd recommend trips down to Seattle for maybe Six or Company. They also have 4 more shows in their regular season,  but I couldn't recommend them.

I'm saving up for another trip to NYC.

San Francisco's BroadwaySF - formerly SHN - announced its 2023-24 season - although the season is entirely in 2024, with a separate tour of The Lion King late this year. For reasons that seem odd, ATG didn't mention the Curran Theater at all. (It's hosting Into the Woods in June, but it's not clear what, if anything, will play there later in the year or in 2024. The Chronicle story about the season says only this:

"Left underused is the Curran Theatre, at which BroadwaySF is currently booking just one-off or other short events. Though spokesperson Scott Walton told The Chronicle that a larger plan for the venue was 'in development,' the loss of more consistent programming smarts after the vibrant projects brought in by Carole Shorenstein Hays..."

Here's the season:

The Lion King (Orpheum Theatre, Nov. 22-Dec. 30) - not part of the subscription package

The Wiz (Golden Gate Theatre, Jan. 16-Feb. 11, 2024)

MJ (Orpheum Theatre, Jan. 30-Feb. 25)

Funny Girl (Orpheum Theatre, April 30-May 26)

Company (Orpheum Theatre, June 5-29)

Mrs. Doubtfire [Orpheum Theatre, July 2-28]

Girl From the North Country [Golden Gate Theatre, July 30-Aug. 18]

Wicked also is returning to the Orpheum in August. Dates not disclosed yet. It's a lure for subscribers. You get to be first in line for tickets to this show.

Bear88, it looks like SF has a pretty similar to other West Coast cities.  Most of the same shows play Las Vegas in 2024 as well.  The only difference is they get Ain't Too Proud in October as the only Autumn show in the next season - but it looks like that already played SF.

Seattle gets Tina in September, then nothing until MJ in December.

Portland gets Les Mis in November & Lion King in December.

I'm visiting SF in June, doing the Yosemite trip I originally has planned for 2020.  BoM will be in SF, but I'm passing. Instead I will be ticking War Memorial Opera house off of my bucket list with Madame Butterfly & Die Frau.

Really surprised that Company is coming to the New Haven Shubert in January. I haven't been there in decades, but I'll probably make the effort to check it out.

It's not the organizations fault-it's the shows and theater and the tour itself and it's schedule. Just because it doesn't come somewhere when you want it, doesn't mean it won't.
